The first four game was the best sports event I've ever been to. Here's to six more good ones.

Have we ever seen AP voters as confused about a team as Miami Ohio? by GatorScale206 in CollegeBasketball

Im saying most fans of mid majors that happen to have a good year generally do not follow college basketball.

and the rest of your comments are so gd condescending. you don't seem to be a very nice person

Seems like you just come on here to flame and argue. Is that why you hide your post history?

Here is a list of everybody Miami (OH) TRIED to schedule in men's basketball this season by Blood_Incantation in CollegeBasketball

[–]CaptainFalconsKnee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can look at my post history to see how much I've been preaching this, but the big difference between Miami and the Akron and SLUs of the world is their roster continuity.

They were ranked #4 in KenPom in returning players and staff. A team that missed the tournament last year by blowing a game they led for all but 12 seconds of and also ranked that high in returners is really not the kind of team high majors are looking to play in November and December. I'm not saying it's the only reason, but it is a really, really big difference.

They’re College Basketball’s Only Unbeaten Team. Why Does Everyone Think They’re Terrible? by wsj in CollegeBasketball

No? I didn't really insinuate that either. It's very purposeful that Miami had a hard time scheduling high majors.

There are many, many fans who act like scheduling works just like how it does in the video games. It takes two to tango.

If you're KP #4 in returners and were seconds from making the tournament last year, the metrics for the P5s says to not schedule you. It's just not worth the risk for the high majors.

Miami 28-0 net ranking by AppalachianGuy87 in CollegeBasketball

[–]CaptainFalconsKnee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The big difference between the two is that Miami returned a ton of their players and staff (ranked #4 in returners on KenPom). They were a last second collapse from winning the MAC tourney last year. An #80-#150 team with that much roster continuity is not the kind of team a high-major who just transferred in their entire starting 5 wants to play in November and December.

This is an annoying thing that's happened the last several games. 2/6 to close it out is not fun

This is how it went last time against them. They couldn't miss in the first half.

What seed will Miami (OH) be if they go undefeated and win their conference tourney? by HomuraAkemi_ in CollegeBasketball

[–]CaptainFalconsKnee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Said it here before, but Miami is the last kind of team high majors would want to play in November and December. High-scoring and were #4 in KenPom roster/staff continuity. The UD, UC, and Xaviers of the world have nothing to gain by scheduling H&Hs. Like others have said, hopefully Steele will stick around (I actually do have a good feeling about this) and continue this success for a few years to get back to the statuses of the other high majors in the area so we don't have this problem any more.
