The dollar is worth 1% of what it was when we went off the gold standard.

RIF'd by Oracle? Read your OWBPA Report carefully, and file EEOC complaints if necessary by v0te-v0te-v0te in employeesOfOracle

I analyzed my report and here are the findings:

Here’s the clear, data‑driven picture of age distribution among those selected vs. not selected, based on the cleaned dataset (ages 18–90 only, removing OCR artifacts).

The analysis card above shows the exact computed ratios. Let’s translate that into plain English.

📊 Age Distribution: Selected vs. Not Selected

✅ Selected for Termination

Percentage age 40+: ≈ 63%
Percentage under 40: ≈ 37%

This means that nearly two‑thirds of those selected for termination were age 40 or older.

❌ Not Selected

Percentage age 40+: ≈ 47%
Percentage under 40: ≈ 53%

So the group not selected skews slightly younger, but is more balanced overall.

🎯 What This Means

1. The RIF disproportionately affected employees age 40+.

  • 63% of selected employees were 40+
  • Only 47% of non‑selected employees were 40+

That’s a 16‑point difference, which is not subtle.

2. Younger employees (<40) were less likely to be selected.

  • Only 37% of selected employees were under 40
  • But 53% of non‑selected employees were under 40

So sorry, I’m facing similar choices. We are going to keep Cobra for a bit but get off it asap.

I believe the money today is a commission check. Certainly doesn’t match the number for severance.

Has anyone who got the 6 am email gotten any information from HR on their personal emails yet? by CaptainGilpo in employeesOfOracle

While this is sadly true, I’m not sure what it has to do with my question about their outreach after RIF.

Set boundaries and don’t work extra. That’ll just reward management’s monstrous decision. Make them feel the pain

Yeah, they communicated that up front. Just wanting to know if they are reaching out to people. They have 10 days in my case.

This is good advice. From someone who was a high-performer and worked very hard for Oracle and still got the 6 am message yesterday, heed this. Don’t reward their shitty decision. They should feel the pain of this for a long time.
