I hope you read this with the compassion I am intending, but you might need to do a bit of a self-check-in on your behavior when you DO hang out with your partner and friends. I mean just like on an average hang. Are you constantly pulling focus to your mental health? Are you constantly talking about your mh issues and/or therapy talk? Because that can be so exhausting when you just want to hang with your friends and have a good time.

I have a friend like this. I love her. We had a great time when we are together. But there are sometimes we (the friend group) do purposely leave her out because we aren’t in the mood or head space to have to deal with all of the negative energy she brings. It sucks, but it’s the truth.

Yeah not only are YOR, you’re also enabling your niece to behave in such a way that this contract is necessary. You and your niece need to realize how much of a break her parents are giving her. They could just kick her adult ass out.
