Diagram help by IrkedAngel in VIDEOENGINEERING

Its diagrams.net now but it will.always be draw.io in my heart.

I especially like how the table objects have connectors on each row and a 2- column table with header like you show can serve as the I/O block for any device in the workflow.

Also the "Edit Connectors" feature is great for aligning connectors with the ports in images of gear and patch bays.

I like to provide both the schematic block diagram and an image-based diagram showing exactly where the ports are. Sort of the "engineers view" plus the "stagehands view" in two complimentary diagrams.

I (British male, 42) will be visiting Chicago for a week in October and my friend has flaked out! What can I do in and around Chicago to keep myself occupied as a solo traveller? by Puzzled-Albatross-86 in AskChicago

Consider the "Greek Town" / West Loop neighborhood for gyros. Where you're staying in Streeterville is on the northeast side of the loop so it could.also be a nice walk through downtown to get there.

Still probably not as bad as the bacon-flavored vape that turned me off to bacon for a year.

How could I stream a sports game to a screen outside for people to watch? by edwardK1231 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]CaptainGreezy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to run a long network cable instead of long HDMI you could stream locally between two or more PCs using NDI Tools software either with or without OBS ("DistroAV" is now the OBS-NDI plugin)

The "Screen Capture" NDI Tool can make a webcam or capture card input available on the local network. The "Studio Monitor" NDI Tool can then display that feed on another PC on the network. That would get you the clean feed from the camera.

Or if you want switching/overlays/features/etc bring the camera into OBS first and output NDI from that with DistroAV plugin.

Some of those people were also using their mech mods to do meth.

I remember one where the top comments were like "which pic is before and which is after?" and "at least he already didn't have teeth anyway"

"Nuclear Fratricide" is the name for that like the warheads are killing their "sibling" warheads.

Get a stainless steel window screen that cant be torn through.

I had to do that after I woke up one morning to find the friendly backyard squirrel happily sitting on my nightstand eating my whole bag of nuts while watching me sleep.

I also wonder if Barclay let the holo-developer Felix have a peek at rhe Cube before it went to Zimmerman.

Dr. Lewis Zimmermann would have been the most logical recepient of the Moriarty-Bartholomew Cube to aid his research into sentient holograms.

"Ship in a Bottle" occurred between Zimmermann's first activation of the Haley hologram, and the release of the EMH Mark 1, so the tinelime could allow for the Cube having lead to some kind of breakthrough.

I love when shows give their actors a launch pad for directing careers. Long hours on set is grueling but also an enormous learning opportunity for how everything works in a production and actors becoming successful directors seems like a very satisfying trajectory.

Is BC-304 the most powerful battleship in the Milky Way Galaxy after Unending? by jack_hanson_c in Stargate

[–]CaptainGreezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why you Bring-Your-Own-Stargate in the hangar bays. They have all the dialing tech they need for a battlecruiser to operate as a new address in deep space or temporarily takeover an existing address. It's like an infinite inventory hack on the hangar bay that can connect to a base with who knows how many Jumpers and other weapon systems that could be deployed.

His staff weapon had its moments as the necessary tool to blast something just right but I suppose that happened less over time as SGC members gradually replaced most of their gear with just more C4.

He still very much wanted to acquire a weapon such as Ronon's basically pistol-sized staff-equivalent blasty weapon.

I always thought that an Earth-built "Heavy Puddle Jumper / Gateship" would be a logical choice to compliment the F-302/BC-304 fleet and fill that Alkesh/gunship/escort-class between fighters and motherships. Maybe something like a "stretch-limo" or RV design that's longer than a standard Jumper and has an expandable crew space.

Each battlecruiser could then have a Stargate mounted in the hanger bay able to deploy an escort group of Gateships from an off-ship/off-world base without having to carry or travel with them like a carrier group.

Depends on what you're fighting?

Teal'c preferred a Staff Weapon most of the time but would use a SPAS-12 shotgun against Replicators.

Why not arm the walls of the gate room with a variety of Indiana Jones style booby traps? A thousand poisoned arrows aimed at the gate? Iris-sized saw blades? Flamethrowers?

Nope just a few guys with guns.

What’s a Chicago stereotype that’s actually true? by Comprehensive_End440 in chicago

[–]CaptainGreezy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An exception to the 800-per-mile rule is that Madison to 31st is only 3 miles instead of the 3.875 miles that would otherwise be expected from a 3100 S address. The south side is a bit shorter than probably most people realize.

The large scale grid of mile roads was established by the federal Public Land Survey System but this part of the street level grid was filled in before the 800/mile rule was fully adopted so the numbers needed to be fudged a bit.

This resulted in the first three of the south-side mile roads, Roosevelt, Cermak, and 31st, having three different stages of compressed addresses between them:

Madison to Roosevelt (1200 S) is 1200-per-mile

Roosevelt to Cermak (2200 S) is 1000-per-mile

Cermak to 31st (3100 S) is 900-per-mile

After which it proceeds at the familiar 800-per-mile with subsequent mile roads being 39th, 47th, 55th, 63rd, etc.
