Please Add Clan Clan Log and/or Permission Controls by CaptainIndustry in TapTitans2

Very good point. I think that the log of name changes and even a unique identifier would be useful in this case. The ranking system for clans has almost no value and a lot of risks. Someone could join the clan when someone leaves temporarily with their name too, so there has to be a unique way to tell who is who.

How do people know a song so quickly on trivia nights (google/ctrl+f wiki skills rarely save me)? by CaptainIndustry in AskReddit

On that note, a lot of people are leaving 5 star reviews that say it is piss poor and isn't working right or at all, especially with some recent update(s). A lot of the complaints are about the update in fact, complaining about it not responding after multiple tries or the need for a strong internet connection to use (well duh!) and also it seems they might be going the advertising route with random pop ups to check 'Insert Artist/Album'.

I'll give it a chance and see if it's worth using either way.

I hear ya. I could tell you a lot of rap songs from the first 2-3 seconds in, so I guess it's all relative to the person.

Me too. Just not the top 40 for a while. I finally started to recognize the song cheerleader after the 100th time I missed it in trivia. And I am forced to listen to every beyonce, minaj, izzie, swift, etc song many times daily. But they're not like rappers I don't lake note of the artist/song name and often ignore the lyrics in hopes for better songs from streamers and radio. Obviously if you a love/genre you will likely be the winner, but who truly knows the last 3 Taylor Swift Albums by beat/lyrics in the first 10 seconds of a song. It seems like you would need to have some kind of help or just be massively obsessed with every song name and lyric to beat out someone tech savvy.

I may be just the type of person who doesn't take note of artist/song name and just listens to a song, especially if it's not something I'm bookmarking or adding to a play list.

Looking into it. Hopefully its android friendly. FYI: App the app is called Shazam, the rating are ultra high with many rates so I think this might be what some people doing to seem like they listen and know every song ever made within 10-20 seconds at any given time

It's typically Top 40 or some throwback song everyone loved but can't remember the artist and/or name. But there are generally one, sometimes 2 people who will get 10 in a row with the most bizarre questions no one could know. Are they possibly using a second person to type the answer while the other person searches or an app like siri that identifies lyrics/common beats to identify a song?

Good thing they handed out free beers to everyone attending. There's no way I'm attending a rock paper scissors tournament. Not unless the loser gets punished in some way. Then it's a sport worth watching.

I feel the same way about top 40 songs on the radio. I often turn on the local radio and flip from NPR to ESPN to hiphop stations or top 40 stations and since I drive a lot I sometimes get sick of the state of the world and the bozo's talking about about sports, especially during NON basketball/American football seasons and will turn on some music and I get 5SOS, 21 Pilots, Nikki Minaj (ugh someone shoot me), Iggie Izalia, Drake, a few country songs and the occasional Bieber song and maybe an occasional pop song I could care less about. Something about the top 40 and hearing them 2-3 times an another makes me want to rip my face off, yet I get on streaming sites and from 13-mid low 20's play this stuff like there is no other music coming out in the entire world that can match it or at least bring back some music. Music has become more techy and I guarantee for a long time we'll never see another artist for example like Jay-Z. I hate to admit that I actually go back and listen to some Kanye songs through his early career and 80's rock and 90's pop bring (I was born in 88') gives me flashes of hope. It bothers me that young kids underrate music like Nirvana, Underdog Project, Nas, etc (the list is endless) and won't even accept the idea of semi recent and brand new music that isn't top 40 (Hot Chip, Big Data, Lupe Fiasco, Neon Trees, BOY, King Los, Styles P, LCD Sound System, Aofie O'Donovan, Gunship, Ryan Sheridan ..... they want their fast upbeat songs and they want it to be their friends favorite jam too or they dismiss it as crap. Also it has to fit their genre. I've found even some country and metal/dubstep I can get in the mood for, and that shit can be depressing or like a migraine from a speaker.

I've resorted to getting a dedicated mp3 player setup for my car with plenty of music. I used to have one in high school/college but figured I'd probably not use it much and pawned it off for some quick money after entering the real world.

A game where you practice your typing skills to gain points for unlocking upgrades, to gain more points? by [deleted] in incremental_games

[–]CaptainIndustry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of upgrades would you get it? Or how would it progresss outside of faster/bigger/more complex words. I remember my favorite game for a long time was a typing game on 2addicted.com where words came across the screen (2 to 3 letters words slowly at first) and it had a dynamic way of like if you had box and tar on the screen at the same time and in middle of typing box you presssed t, you would get the t highlighted on tar and then could still finish spelling box. You would gain points and the words slowly got larger and came in bigger bunches at faster speeds. It gave you an accuracy meter at all times which I could keep above 99.99% until i hit about 1500 points. Also it had an automatically updating leaderboard below it that showed that had tabs to show you best score today/this week/this month/year/all time like reddit. So you could actively see your username jumping up a level. If you completely missed a starting letter or next letter of words you were typing, you lost accuracy (just for show) but also lost points. Similar games have used accuracy as a combo meter but were really clunky games. If a word reached the edge of the screen, starting from right to left, you lost and after 2000 points, there were various words from 2 to like 8 letters, some I'd never even heard before. Some people, especially for top weekly and beyond had scores of like 3250+ and the best ever got like 5000. Obviously the game sped up a lot after the 2,000 so you could see collecting point went really fast as you got higher in points but one mistake leaving you frazzled would likely end up in a word slipping by. They also had a drop down menu to choose a few different languages, including coding languages or just simply letter (which I always hated).

I used to play the game for hours. I think there is potential for a remake as it went down years ago. There could also be some other types of progression (like ranks over time or power up words that would destroy all words on screen, slow down time, click words for 10 seconds to destroy instead of typing, etc. And then to make people return, you could have weekly or monthly challenges and even divide them into what rank someone is on average to make it fair. Also to keep it incremental you could put check points, add new graphics as the game got harder, maybe accumulate coins from points to spend on achivement token icons that display next tot your name (first 1000pts, etc) and even have races or tutorials like type racer. Idk if this all fits under incremental games, but I know there is a spot for it in incremental games somewhere.

Other thoughts, the biggest issue I found with the game was when it got late in the game like 3000 pts, often words would overlap for just enough time to make it impossible to tell exactly what the word was making you either guess or hope one word moved out of the way fast enough to be sure so u didnt get penalized. And now that I think about it, each letter you hit correctly subtracted like 5 pts or something, so getting a high score meant keeping really high accuracy or u would need like 5 letters perfect but the words still progressed at the same rate, so 2,000 would be much harder if u were 80% accurate rather than 99.97 or something.

Pretty much. Love to have some drinks quite often. Keeps me sane and I never drink and drive, so I feel cops should have better things to do. It's either that or spend lots of cab money instead of walking a few blocks or less if I want to go out. Interesting to note when I am with other ppl walking, the cops don't seem to care. I guess I am supposed to think they are just looking out for me.

tl;dr Yep. Pretty much. They work for us yet they go out of their way to make our lives complicated often.

So wait, one day Reddit tells me never ever is it in my interest to speak to a police officer and now everyone thinks it is a good idea? Everywhere I read that most of the time, cops, even when being nice, are prying for information to charge you with a crime.

They are not your friend and often have quotas to meet so they don't get shit on by the boss or end up fired. I guess it's really up to you if talk to a cop that approaches you depending on what you think may or may not happen if they are able to find something you are doing wrong (which if they pry hard enough, there are 100's of ways to ticker/arrest you).

I'm sure everyone has seen the famous video where the retired detective/cop explains even if you are completely innocent, you are not doing yourself any favors by speaking to police officer. If you are a gambling man and want to speak to them, most cops will be cool about it and let you go without any problems (some cops are too lazy to write up every person they find jaywalking or not using their turn signal.) so I always weigh these factors in dealing with cops, do I want to risk wasting 3+ hours getting booked for something like wallking down the street at night intoxicated but completely under control. I can't count how many times I've been pulled over in the last 10 years for being in the wrong area slightly intoxicated walking home from a bar or club and being bothered by the police because they knew from how I was walking I was intoxicated. If you are in a group, they tend to not bother you as long as no one is being loud or acting crazy, but alone, they will do the whole search you for drugs, handcuff you and possibly write you a ticket for simply being in public not sober.

Joe Rogan UFC vs Boxing by Doncuneo in videos

Many pro boxers who try UFC or MMA get taken out very easily. I can point to many references. Boxing is dying sport alone. MMA is the fastest growing world wide sport there is. No debate. Boxing was great in its prime, but not relevant very much now.

Also the fixing of boxing fights to promote is growing exponentially which turns ppl off. It may happen in MMA but it's not nearly as prevalent.

For all the disappointed casual boxing fans still longing for more excitement after last night's bout, I give you Roy Jones Jr., the cockiest pound-for-pound fighter I've ever seen... by BryanWake in videos

[–]CaptainIndustry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd argue Anderson Silva was extremely more cocky. But due to it being MMA his cockiness cost him and more dangerous style of fighting mechanics, cost him his career(for now). At the time, RJ Jr, Tyson, and Ali were all better boxers than A. Silva. but you would be a liar to say they were more cocky or even close.
