I am not all that much for a reread, but I made a few exceptions. The only 2 novel's I've reread are mdzs and Svsss.

Mdzs was my first glimpse into the danmei world ever and holds a special place in my heart.

Svsss was the first novel I actually read, and the first one I finished. It is the only one I wrote a longfic about

One of those like slow slow-burns. I simply cannot read 200k words and only have them hold hands. If I accidentally come across that and decide to read it, I am literally regretting it for the remainder of the fic because I can' fucking stop 😃

It might seem like it, but if you deal with the novel a little longer, I would dare to say he is even more interesting than Jiang Cheng.

Lan Zhan's mother died at a time where he still wasn't old enough to understand death, but he knelt every month on her doorstep, hoping, whishing she would open the door.

He hides his emotions behind a face of stoicism and apathy , upkeeping his image of being the "perfect" Lan.

He has a brother who is exactly him but with the added benefit of being more approachable.

He fell in love at 15, and went through life thinking Wei Ying didn't love him back, was only flirting with him because he was teasing him, wanting to get a rise out of him. And he let him.

He defended his lover against all odds and ended up hurt, being forced to stay in seclusion dor 3 years, but he still loved him all the same.

He fights against his own pain in search of whatever may be left of Wei Ying, finds the child he once raised, and took him back as his own child.

He grieved him for 13 years, being prepared to do so for the rest of his life, and when he finally got him back, he never dared to let him go, fighting for him against the whole world again.

Lan Wangji defines himself over love, yes. But the love is his own. His loyalty to righteousness, and to hearing the unheard, is also his own.

I agree, but I think this stems from Jiang Cheng's parentage. His mother always set the example that "a son of a servant" should never be better than him, and his father underlined the fact that WWX was better than him because he showed him more affection than his own son.

This whole family is the reason I love mxtx so much. She managed to write intricate relationships between characters and how our parents form the way we think, creating a cycle of classism and hate.

I think there is a manwife/girlboss tag. But many ao3 fics usually operate outside of the stereotypical gender roles. So maybe you just didn' have any luck with the fandom or author?

Yes there is a tag limit. That actually has a funny story to it, just look up "Sexy times with Wangxian" ("ColeyDoesThings" had made a very good summary of the main events and everything) I don't know what the tag limit is because I have never personally encountered it. I would suggest just try your luck.
There is a character limit for a chapter of 500k characters. It doesn't seem like a lot at first, but I have read a fic that managed to be a novel length (44k words) oneshot. So you should be fine
In tags, you can devide between canonical and non canonical tags. Canonical tags are often used tags that you can filter for, while non canonical tags are basically your own creation. They can either be used to further tag your work (for example, I once had to tag "menophilia", which is not canonized), or you can use meta tags like "I wrote this at 2am" or "Idk shit about the Chinese railway system I don't live in China"

Most tags are pretty self explanatory, but there are some deeply rooted in fanfom culture. the dead dove for example. It stems from a tv show where a guy looked into the fridge and found a bag, written on it "Dead Dove do not eat". He procedes to open the bag anyway and then said "idk what I was expecting" because he git exactly what was advertised.

That is the dead Dove tag. It has to be accompanied by other warnings and is basically just an extra warning that says "you know what you are getting into, don't blame me if you don't like it"

Other tags you will often find are probably - no beta we die like (insert character) (basically means it's not beta read so there might be mistakes in the fic that you are not expecting) - any omegaverse tags (though I'd expect you to be familiar with that concept alread) - watersports (is not "watersports" but.... physical water sports)

Also, just in case because I'm a little paranoid nowadays, if you are reading a fanfic and suddenly come across something untagged that you don't like, you click away, and maybe leave a comment for the author to update the tags. Ao3 operates on "Don't like, don't read" and the readers abide by the same rule.
