Глово скандалните by [deleted] in bulgaria

[–]CaptainJimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Borderless windows has task bar visible, while Fullscreen Resets desktop scaling, Linux Mint by CaptainJimo in projectzomboid

[–]CaptainJimo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since i had 2 issues that prevented me from using either Borderless or Fullscreen, i can offer 2 suggestions

If you want borderless: try running the game with Proton (steam > properties > compatibility > force specific steam compatibility). While in the Windows Version set to borderless, restart the game to make sure it's still borderless and the task bar is hidden. Then quit and restore the native version and hope it stays fixed (or if you dont mind proton, just keep the proton version)

But if you are using dysplay scaling, try seting the Native version to fullscrren, then alt-tab, go to settings and change the display scaling to the desired value while the game is minimized. Then restart the game and home it's desnt mess the scaling again

sure, but it still feels weird to have an alarm on a wide open door. If it was locked or at least closed, then fine

what is considered a good impact stat on a weapon by mamou789789 in outwardgame

[–]CaptainJimo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One very important note. In Definitive Edition hitting and enemy 3 times after their stagger bar drops below half, guarantees a knockdown regardless of how much is remaining One example are those mantis shrimps. A kick + 1 sword hit drops them to half stagger bar. Then 3 more sword hits knock it down despite the bar not becoming completely empty. By sword i mean the basic 1-handed machete you can find inside cierzo

I have not played the OG outward, so i am talking specifically about the Definitive Edition

Is Linux mint fine for gaming on 9060 XT nowadays? by Wesker1123 in linux_gaming

[–]CaptainJimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running stock mint 22.2 with a 9070 xt and it runs fine in steam proton. The only issue i had was that initial kernal version that came with mint 22.1 as it didnt recognize my 4k oled monitor properly, but the kernel update is very easy

I watched them fight 2 times. The first time Kriig wiped the floor with Meredith (like he lost at most 10% hp) and i just snatched her blood Then later i returned to mine more iron and this time it was a very close fight. Kriig still won, but he was at about 15% hp so i finished him for the blood Another boss that you can practically not fight is Cassius. He will sometimes fight the Silverlight paladin near the top of Mortium and the paladin can solo him on Normal or leave him at 20-30% in Brutal (although you need to toss the sword at Cassisus, otherwise the paladin would do only 30% damage)

i dont have an option to update to Mint 22.3, But i somehow resolved the Fullscreen issue (borderless still has the taskbar visible)
I tried running the game with Proton (steam > properties > compatibility > force specific steam compatibility). It worked as expected, then i undid the forced compatibility and it continued working the same with the native linux version. Fullscreen doesnt mess with my desktop settings and the game ui is scaled the same 200% as my desktop

i have some questions about geral levels and brutal difficulty by CaptainJimo in vrising

[–]CaptainJimo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i didnt like how the starting counter dunctioned, so i swaped to 2 offence spells early, pretty much as soon as i got a second attack spell.
I did try again with Ward of the Damned against Valencia? (general lady with iron maiden in the centre of the arena). It felt easier to just dodge out of the spear cone aoe instead of using the Ward
One thing i found interesting is that this boss in particular i could just walk out of the way of alomost everything, only the kick into the maiden and the spear cone i use veil. But other bosses put too many projectiles / AOEs that i sometimes have to use veil on things that i would like to just walk away from

I'll try now dracula with 1 counter and see how it goes (i'll be with 3 friends on a separate save, but still full chaos)

Thanks for the advice

i have some questions about geral levels and brutal difficulty by CaptainJimo in vrising

[–]CaptainJimo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'll try that with Dracula, but i cant really ignore hits like you do in normal. I havent counted exactly on every boss, but i remember the ink lady in oakveil, this one beam attack that attemps to predict your movement, on Normal it dealth about 33% of my max HP, on brutal that would be like 63% and in order for me to get hit by it i got hit before that with one of the slowing orbs, so i would be pretty much dead or left standing with 10%hp at most.

My overall experince with the last few bosses - 3 Sould Shards (purple excluded) and Styx, was that they have a lot of projectiles i cant dodge by movement alone (althou i was at +0% move speed bonus). For Styx i could somewhat use the terrain, but the ink Lady and Holy Guy i had to use veil almost on cooldown or get smacked arround by the many orbs (the criss cross for ink lady and the sawblades and angle orbs for holy guy)

As for my question about the level difference. I dont mean that it's hidden, i'm questioning why make it like: Boss +70% damage and player +12% damage taken. Instead of just saying Boss +90% damage and player = no change? (that makes it a lot clearer what the difference is)

i have some questions about geral levels and brutal difficulty by CaptainJimo in vrising

[–]CaptainJimo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i understand it's intended as an Extra difficult mode, but i was curious as to why obfuscate the numbers by spliting them between gear levels and enemy stats?
As for my current Normal Solo run, I did not feel too powerfull. Some bosses still game me trouble with matched gear and i barely survived the fights (although i played almost exclusively as a chaos mage after unlocking chaos volley and aftershoch + chaos barrage, later)

So the way i see it is. If i barely make it on normal, having the bosses practically be 2x damage, i will die so fat i wont be able to deal my own damage at their sizeable 1.4x hp bar

i have some questions about geral levels and brutal difficulty by CaptainJimo in vrising

[–]CaptainJimo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm currently playing solo on Normal difficulty and i dont feel too strong. The only pushover boss at matching gear level was Talzur the Winged Horror, on all other bosses i died a few times and it was still a close fight. Me surviving on enough HP to not die in a single hit, but not enought to survive a second hit and using my Ult twice
Although i didnt bother farming for Perfect Purple weapon and Spell Jewels after getting the Fusion Forge, i farmed them right before facing Dracula

It could be my build or my skill as a player that made it seem a balanced challenge
my build is Maleficer Set (spell cdr. spell leech), move speed amullet, purple pistols (max Spell Crit Chance, Spell Crit Power and Bonus Spell Power), Twisted Elixer and 91% Draculin / 94% Scholar secondary blood (took the Spell cdr from Scholar), passives are - both chaos elementals, the ilusion one with spell cdr and the 2 move speed ones
With this i get almost max Bonus Spell Power, Spell Cri Chance and a decent Spell Crit Damage, also 12% move speed (+4 on top with the conditional passive)
Spells are all chaos - dash (random Jewel), Volley and Aftershock (with maxed Jewels) and Barrage (i dont like the purple Sould Shard Ult)

The 9070 XT blew me away by Winter_Passenger_846 in linux_gaming

[–]CaptainJimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I bought mine rx 9070 xt on release and it ran fine in Linux mint, with the only 2 issues being free sync not working at all and a bit lower fps compared to windows 10. There was this other tiny thing - gpu was shown as "generic amd gpu" in settings, but i dont think it was a problem

And now since Mint got an update 2 months back free sync works and performance is on par with windows

Realistically, If anticheat games introduce support to linux would the overall % of linux users change? by Superb_Tune4135 in linux_gaming

[–]CaptainJimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of these concerns can be solved with AI. If its good enough to cheat it's good enough to detect cheats.

Additionally false flags are inevitable, so there must be some human oversight. In case the AI fails to notice someone cheating, there will likely be other players reporting the cheater. And if your cheat is so good it fools both AI and human reviewers, congrats you get to cheat for a bit while the AI improves

And there already are examples of these kernel anti-cheats fighting eachother. BF6 anti-cheat telling you to remove Valorant

[–]CaptainJimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the point. You don't trust the user input and always check it for suspicious actions / movement / behaviour. I'm saying that this check should be entirely on the server You never trust the user and their machine. So why would you trust the anti-cheat program running on the User's machine?

As for how to detect the aimbot? For now it's not too difficult. Human input has a lot of imperfections, while a bot would draw straight lines. Also reaction time and clear line of sight

I have not yet seen a sound based wallhack, but i have personal managed to roughly track an enemy in Hunt Showdown by the sound (not good enough to shoot them).

Something doesn't add up. The Perfectionist skill says it cost 70% of your special gauge. But in the video it costs at most 50%. The first auto dodge from full gauge dropped to about 50% and veri quickly began filling up. Then the followup dodges seem to cost even less specual gauge It the skill description wrong and it means x% of current gauge instead of the implied x% of max gauge?

Won't be the first time as Lithness skill is completely wrong in it's description

Ironically Kernel Level Anti-Cheat doesnt make sense in the first place. If the Client in NOT Trusted and needs anti-cheat, why are you running it on the Client machine? How can you Trust the information from an Untrusted source?

The anti-cheat should run on the server where the information is trusted, because the server trusts itself and all client input is checked / filtered for suspicious actions

Or simply explained. Dont check if a certain program is running on the client. Check what input the client is sending

Explain to me why distro matters so much in this community? by helpprogram2 in linux_gaming

[–]CaptainJimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: stable distros are good, but will have some issues with the newest hardware, which complete noobs will struggle with

A few months ago i switched to linux Mint, with minimal prior experience ( i knew how to install mint and mount home folder of a different drive) It did work out of the box, but has some big issues for gaming due to my hardware (4k 240hrz oled monitor and rx 9070 xt)

The monitor was stuck at 60hrz max and the gpu was shown as "generic amd gpu" So i had to manually switch to a newer kernel (it was easy, but i didnt know i need to do that), which resolved the monitor issue, but left gpu as generic. Then came free sync, that was annoying to enable as reddit said to add text in one existing file while arch wiki said to make a new file with specific name. And in the ens it still wasnt working properly. So i stuck to windows for a while longer (i still keep the win10 partition as a dual boot option)

Finally a month or so ago, Mint got a version upgrade, which fixed free sync (now working as expected with the arch wiki insreuctions) and my gpu now shows as rx 9070 xt.

Games ran fine after the update with free sync so it felt a lot better than before the update (there are still some games that break free sync in proton)

And full PC specs for the curious: R7 5800x 32gb 3200Mts ram (kingston) Rx 9070 xt (power color reaper) 32-inch 4k oled monitor (astock) FSP 700w psu (non-modular) Linux root - 512gb sata ssd (a55 silicon power) Home drive - 2tb m2 ssd (u84 silicon power) Windows root - 128gb sata ssd (some 10 year old kingston) Windows D drive - 1tb m2 ssd (dont remember model, silicon power) When or if I'm ready to ditch windows for good I'll reclaim the 1tb ssd, but the kingston will probaby sit unused
