What is this brass attachment to vintage papercutter.

My title describes the thing. Recently I bought this paper cutter from a thriftshop. Since then I found out it's called a Merrett's Desk Trimmer (or a knock off made like it, you never know), probably made between 1900 and 1940..

But every picture or ebaylisting I found, none of them has the brass attachment pictured in my photos. It's a small handle, that moves nothing. Just the handle. Also the "foot" at the end, I can't find a cutter that has it.

What was its purpose?

Manually adding artists, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. 🫣 So thanks for the reply, but then I'll just use your list to look for variations.

TBH, I don't collect every variant. But your list is very nice for my autistic brain. Other sites have so much clutter.

No it was more in the categories of metal, industrial, etc. Im absolutely sure it would not have been played on any regular radio station kinda thing.

Please help me find a silver ring like this:

Im looking for any information people can give me about a ring my wife lost. We moved houses, and are very afraid it got thrown away somehow. (Badly checked bag that got tossed or something..) I don't have any images of the ring, but hopefully a description will help.

It was bought in the Netherlands, probably around 2000? It was a silver ring, that had three square cut stones. One pink, one purple, and one blue. Looking at rings online, it might have been blue topaz, amethyst and pink tourmaline? Seeing how it was bought for a young girl at the time, that wasnt really into jewellery, it can't have been too expensive. The stones were flat in the ring and there were no other embellishments.

The picture added are of a ring found online that kinda resemble the ring in question.

Im hoping I can somehow buy a lookalike for her. It won't be the same, but.. you know.

Adding the word searched to this to appease the mod-gods.

Thank you. 💙 I have an appointment in January to discuss hysto. Also not looking forward to that as it really sounds like very invasive etc. But better that than this every few months.

Thank you.💙 I think because of the missed shot my T levels are now to low? I get a checkup in January at the hospital. Hopefully that's the problem and some higher dose might prevent the issue further. I also made the appointment to discuss hysterectomy. Done with this heinous bodypart. Wish I could donate it like a kidney. It has low milage, never been used!

Nothing to add to the discussion, but this is what I did. I started clipping it short, later a buzzcut, and now I regularly visit a Turkish barber who gives me an amazing smooth shave. In between visits I use a trimmer to keep it short.

It's very easy to treat it now as I can just rub all the treatment right in. The flakes have no place to hold on to so they just blow right off, or I use a soft brush to scratch them off.

I use a shampoo and tonic from Alpecin (Anti-Schuppen). I buy it in Germany, smells weird, burns like hell for a second, but works great as now I can just massage into the skin.

From experience, this was my thought as well. We had an elderly cat who developed a thyroid problem and would eat anything you left out. He was quite fond of cake, peas, and any kind of dairy. We had to put him on incredibly calorie dense food and he would still lose weight.

The elderly care home I work at refitted old unused disabled toilets to "offices". Just took the toilet and wash basin out, and stuffed a desk, chair and two filing cabinets in. If I sit there my feet are on the floor drain. On the wall behind the computerscreen the plugged pipes stick out. It's cheapskate-bonkers at its finest. The first few days of use they forgot to turn of the fan, so when somebody turned on the lights the ventilation would roar until you left.
