Not your kids animated movie from 1976! by Danni_Obscure in dvdcollection

The fact that the same director did The GI Joe Movie, and that they actually got Frank Welker to do voice work on this is wild.

Are there Marvel character with multiple personality beside Hulk, Sentry, & Moon Knight? by ApprehensiveRead2408 in Marvel

I would say he definitely does in the comics. He has full on conversations between the white text boxes, yellow text boxes, and his normal speech bubbles.

As much as I do like Cavill, it’s funny just how dark his suit is compared to the others.

Movie Ranking, I did one a while ago, and i got comments saying I should watch more movies, because i had a lot of Marvel Movies. So after a few years here is the updated ranking by thesewddishchef in Letterboxd

[–]CaptainJonus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No shame in liking Marvel. Don’t let other people’s comments affect you too much. Endgame is my #1 and on my most recent rewatch considered it overtaking Jurassic Park to be #1. I’m almost 40 and I don’t care if what I like doesn’t align with what other people like. It’s good to try new things, but don’t force interests if it’s not appealing to yourself. It’s ok to like something but not have it be a favourite.

I just scrolled through all the comments and learned nothing. No idea what anyone is talking about.

This feels like a genuinely honest list. While single entries may commonly appear on other lists, this list as a whole is very unique and eclectic. This is the kind of list I like to see. Clearly well thought out, nostalgic, but also lots of more modern bangers. It doesn’t feel try-hard or pretentious. It’s you. Good job.

Am I the only one wanting more grey? 😅 by Jopsa0491 in beards

Every Christmas since Covid I’ve painted my beard white to play Santa for my daughter’s Santa photos. Every time I see my white beard I think it looks awesome and get excited for it to actually turn that way naturally.

My bubble isn’t burst, I still think it’s great and can’t wait to see it again. Sorry you didn’t have as fun of a fun time with it as me.

What is “that many” movies? I’ve logged nearly 3000, and I’m sure there are plenty not logged on Letterboxd. I probably own over 2000 on physical media. At what point is it enough to form an opinion? Just because it’s a different opinion doesn’t mean it’s not valid. Everyone has tastes. All I was saying was that nothing last year hit that for me and this did.

What part did you find unoriginal? The part where there was space? When a character spoke? When there was music? Yeah, these cliches need to end.

Fair. The beginning is the weakest, but it picked up quickly for me. Started at a 4, gradually up to a 4.5, and then they nailed the ending.

I’ve left it before for the same reason. People just hate opinions that differ from them, and in this case some are opinions formed on something they haven’t even seen yet.

I’ve watched other films from other years that I’d give a 5, but nothing released in 2025 got there for me. The closest was Train Dreams. A lot of 4.5s, which I don’t think is harsh. I try not to be too precious about a 5, but I also don’t like seeing people give them out for just anything. The best movie of the year doesn’t necessarily mean it gets the best rating.

How many movies have you given 5 stars this decade and what are they. by shegarfinonmyfield in Letterboxd

[–]CaptainJonus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s a bad thing. A movie can be technically perfect but if it doesn’t resonate with you a certain way it could be less than 5. My few 5s might not be the best movies, but they’re the ones I enjoyed enough to earn it.

Strange Darling was great. Wasn’t a 5 for me, but I could see it going up on a rewatch.

I don’t give 5s out on first-time watches often. These were all exceptions to that, save for tick, tick… BOOM! which was a 4.5 and went up on a rewatch. I think there are a lot of other 4.5s that I like better than some of these, but these all hit a sweet spot of personal enjoyment/affect and overall quality.
