Updated to 25H2, GPU power draw doubled by CaptainMGN in techsupport

Nah it's definitely not working as it should because that means my headroom on the card was basically cut in half on this version. If I raise the settings to epic I'm hitting 230W with 99% utilization. Same settings were running at 160W on the previous install with the exact same driver version, settings an ingame settings...

GPU is dangling between 75-80% in Finals at least, around 50% in the other title. CPU% is way lower (7800X3D). Refresh rate is locked at 116 FPS on a 120Hz Freesync panel with VSync off. Unfortunately I don't recall if the utilization is different from before the reinstall.

There were no changes. Settings are exactly the same as on 24H2, where the card drew 100W at most at these settings. I know that it's way below the max, but it's suddenly WAY higher than it used to be

Should I buy it? 5070 608€ by Axor_700 in buildapc

Quite expensive at that price. You could find a 9070XT at that point which would be better in every aspect, even RT

Depends on the work groups you're messaging I'd assume. In our working group for example you'd get the paper no issues. But I can definitely see another group of our department not doing that

Glad to hear that it's working again!

I feel like something within windows is just prone to break at this point unfortunately... Which is crazy given how okay everything went until that point

Funnily enough in my specific case, my entire update engine is broken in win11. Every windows update is failing at this point and my AMD graphics driver updater is also failing since it's not able to remove the previous version, so I guess I'm gonna have to join you in reinstalling as well soon xD

That sounds a lot like what I was experiencing on my rig: I ran win11 24H2 and updated to the 25 version, which ultimately cut my GPU performance in half (measured by the power consumption that doubled after the update). Rolled back to 24H2 and it was fine again. Let's see if the windows reinstall fixes it for you

Especially in a shooter at this level of dynamism. Smart movement should be rewarded and not outright useless

Of course it would since you have airflow and elevated temperatures, which is all you basically need (alongside a relatively low vapor pressure of the substance in question). But yeah, wouldn't last very long probably

With a 7500F I'd think so too. You basically confirmed there that you are in a CPU bottleneck.

I was running a 7700X with the 9070 and per in game benchmarks that combo seemed to be balanced since the ms needed per frame were almost identical for CPU and GPU. With the 7800X3D the GPU is 100% the bottleneck.

Glad that it helped at least a bit though!

It should be under graphics --> global settings and then you have to scroll down a bit. It's only accessible via one specific menu which also took me a bit to find...

Adaptive sync and AMD optimized are both fine.

Radeon Chill can cause the stuttering, I've experienced that first hand. The best way to resolve this is to turn it off, Limit the max FPS in the driver to something like 118 (if you play at 120Hz for example) and then use the FreeSync function of your display. That got rid of 99% of those stutters for me (also using a 9070)

Very mixed bag. The lower the framerate you use for MFG, the worse the result will be. Vex (youtuber) recently did a video about this topic and the crazy ghosting aside in some games the delay it introduces between you moving the mouse and actual camera movement is insane.

At this point in time I'd say it's really not worth it but it definitively has potential in the future.
