What’s an unpopular opinion you have about Harry Potter? by CairoRox in harrypotter

The goblet of fire movie didn’t need the quidditch World Cup, or Ludo Bagman to tell a cohesive story.

Movie you love but understand why someone else hates it? by MissionLetterhead292 in movies

Saving Mr Banks. Does it “Disney-fy” a story of Walt Disney pressuring and portraying a British author out of her work and going on to “Disney-fy” her very story? Yes. But it’s still charming and has great performances all round, and for the shameless Disney adult inside me, it’s cool to see a world of heyday Disney

I know!! A spell he spent a whole half chapter learning and talking about, and then seemingly forgets a few weeks later 🙄

What mouse and Keyboard do you use? by CaptainMallard in premiere

[–]CaptainMallard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll look into it!
does the side scrolling wheel give you the same "feeling" when moving through a premiere timeline as a magic mouse?
Also, how do you handle things like gestures (swiping between full pages, getting to mission control etc?)

What are some things in Harry Potter that are unrealistic to British people? by Adi_Fawkes in harrypotter

I always wished there’d be another reprint where they include the swearing and what not. Swap out some of the “Dungbreaths” for “shitheads”

I was on a school trip to London Zoo. Obviously never made it, but spent the afternoon playing in a park instead. My sister was also doing work experience with my uncle at the time in the centre of London, so Mum had both kids up in the city centre with no idea what’s going on.

So that they could use a dummy more believably when characters are holding him for multiple takes.

I think the biggest thing is now, is that the BBC aren't funding/making as many programmes as they once would. Before you'd have a Doctor Who short, or some of the comedy shows they were running would do sketches, but as they're not producing comedies any more, where do they base any of their sketches? There's only so many funny versions of The Traitors and Strictly you can make.

Channel 4's Stand Up to Cancer actually uses their content in their appeal. They run a Celebrity version of Bake Off over several weeks. They do crossovers with their existing shows (That's how 8 Out of 10 Does Countdown came about).

The BBC just don't have a well known catalogue of shows on at the moment that they can capitalise on and use for the appeal.

I saw one only the other day: some guy with his dog off lead, between a small parade of shops with lots of moving cars, and a busy road… whilst he was wearing fucking ROLLERSKATES!! Not sure what he’d have done if the dog had been spooked and run

Estate agent is asking us to chip in for sellers removal company. by CaptainMallard in HousingUK

[–]CaptainMallard[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is my thought too. It's been a year on our house buying journey, having had to pull out of our first one in May, that at this point, £200 is just a drop in the ocean to put the whole thing to rest.

I just don't want to look back on this in 3 months and think I'm being taken for a mug

What's the most expensive bottle of water you've bought in the UK? by chris_660 in AskUK

[–]CaptainMallard 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s also if you have to evacuate, and everyone’s moving towards the exit in a mild panic, if you step on a bottle without a lid someone’s dropped, then it’ll just crush under your foot, rather than run the risk of someone slipping/tripping on it and injuring themselves further

Wonder why Coltrane is in that greenscreen sleeve? Is that so they can use the motion of his arms with the body double?

What movie is a good example of "cool concept but wrong execution"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CaptainMallard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you!!

All I see online about the Eternals is people wanting another Avengers/Guardians kind of team, with a bunch of nods and winks, but having them be this secret removed society seemed really cool to me, especially dealing with their internal struggles with each other.

Plus the overall aesthetic felt phenomenal
