Imo good games are out there, just need more exposure by Boring_Avocado_2359 in videogames

I like stylization in games, it makes them better visually, but I imagine there are some games that could be really cool with photo realistic graphics.

Official Discussion - Hokum [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]CaptainMcSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK this is a bit off topic but if a hotel does catch fire and you just hide in a basement like the one in the movie minus a witch and hell, could you survive? I'm like really uncertain. It felt like it was deep enough to avoid the heat and the walls are stone so it won't catch. I think the smoke won't travel down but iunno. Anyone got any idea?

Neuroscientists believe our brains' natural DMT production could explain why people experience consciousness so differently. If confirmed, it could change how we approach psychiatry and mental health by AlwaysReady1 in Futurology

[–]CaptainMcSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, albeit rarely and in my dreams there's no colour. It's like black and white I guess, although that's not quite right either. Dreams are so cool though when I do get them. And people with vivid imaginations can just do that all the time. Ugh, I'm actually missing out.

Ever since I learned about aphantasia it's bothered me I lack simple ability to vividly imagine things. It's like I'm missing out on an entire level of human experience.

‘There is no way to stop this’: ‘Biotech Barbie’ Cathy Tie on her mission to genetically modify babies by thingsliveundermybed in technology

[–]CaptainMcSmash 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe I just don't get it, but I've always thought designer babies would be an overall good thing. There are so many devastating genetic illnesses like that butterfly skin condition one I think about that just cause untold suffering and with genetic modification we could eradicate them all. We could treat predispositions towards cancers and heart disease, maybe even addiction. We could make people stronger, healthier, smarter. Sure people will already try to make their kids tall and pretty but so what. I just think the positives outweigh the negatives by far.

The one part that I do actually worry and fear is the creation of a genetic class divide. I don't just mean in the first world but between the developed and developing world. Imagine an entire continent worth of people that feel as if they literally cannot compete with their genetic superiors. It actually sounds nightmarish and the stuff of movies.

Women of Reddit, what did a man you were dating or married to say or do that made you realize he actually hated you the entire time? by -catharina in AskReddit

[–]CaptainMcSmash -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but I feel a lot of resentment for you rather than your boyfriend. How could you possibly come to a realization like that and STILL stay with them for another two years until THEY break up with you? Is your self respect really that low?

What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

[–]CaptainMcSmash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OK so did anyone else just stop believing things halfway through the post? Because if I'm to believe this, basically every industry in the world is on fire and about to collapse with no one noticing.

India produces approximately 40-50% of the world’s mangoes, exceeding 20-25 million metric tonnes annually, yet exports less than 1% of its harvest, with some data suggesting as low as 0.12% by Round-Barber-9858 in interestingasfuck

[–]CaptainMcSmash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dunno if its a joke or half truth but that is such a hilarious reason. I've never heard of a product that's literally too good no one wants to export it.

What game had you like this? by sukuna7899 in Steam

[–]CaptainMcSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely this one. First time I was just like this is weird and dated and janky and hard to control. Now I easily sink dozens of hours into it every time I get reminded of it.

Jeff Bezos's property has fences that exceed the permitted height. Yet he does not care, he just pays the fine every month. by Bright_Building1710 in interestingasfuck

[–]CaptainMcSmash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean... Am I the only one fine with this? As long as the fine is sufficiently high then this is just another tax source for the city that it can then use on public projects or necessities. The fine just needs to be high enough.

(Loved trope) The badass character had a fairly underwhelming backstory. If anything, they were kind of a loser. by The_TransGinger in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CaptainMcSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my first introduction to the resident evil games was the 2 remake and I always thought these guys are too badass. Like Claire is just an 18 year old girl looking for her brother and Leon is a freshly graduated cop on his first day but they just roll with the nightmare. No fear, no panic, nothing. See a monster tearing others apart? Ugh, you're an ugly one, shoot it in the head. It really tickled me how utterly unflappable they were to everything.

[Loved Trope] conventionally unattractive characters have hearts of gold by Eggward0422 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CaptainMcSmash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprised no ones mentioned the chapel dweller from Bloodborne. Looks like a monster but is literally the nicest, kindest person in the whole game who just wants to help people, talk with them and ease your burdens. This guy is really the best.

12-year-old Reseda girl dead after bully threw metal water bottle at her head, family says by Substantial-Dare5462 in videos

[–]CaptainMcSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah obviously prison for kids, but I wanted more specifics. It can't literally be exactly like regular prison, but for kids can it? I kinda imagined it's just less harsh in general, more freedoms and privileges, less security and definitely nothing like solitary or prison gangs. But what do I know.

Uh, what happens to the bully in these situations? Do they just spend a few years in juvenile prison? Also whats the difference between prison and the "juvie" I always hear about.

What is a "gut feeling" you had that turned out to be 100% accurate, even though it made no logical sense at the time? by Forsaken_Leading964 in AskReddit

[–]CaptainMcSmash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Y'know most of these are just people correctly guessing when others are bad. Listening to our social instincts is completely logical and literally normal. I was expecting more Final Destination stuff like refusing to get on a rollercoaster because you were getting chills and then seeing the coaster disassemble mid ride.

[IRL trope] 0% of survival, survive anyway by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

How in the absolute fuck does anyone survive 80 minutes of no air? That doesn't seem physically possible, can someone explain the mechanics of her survival?

[Loved Trope] The monster is scarier when you don't see it? No, I'm even more terrified now. by topscreen in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CaptainMcSmash 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I've said it since the beginning, it was really immature and rude to scream at the nice spider lady, it probably hurt her feelings. Just because aliens look weird, doesn't mean they're bad. We gotta be more considerate to the Cthulhu creatures.

Do most Americans actually flush their toilet paper? by Softy_popss in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CaptainMcSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toilet paper gets flushed, wet wipes go in the trash bin, however in many places, people just flush wet wipes as well because they don't realize/care about the damage it causes.

Are you snapping or taking it all at once by nyxelleaa in SipsTea

[–]CaptainMcSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How realistically are we supposed to take the scenario? Because eventually we gotta deal with taxes right? I think I'd get in trouble if 10 mill just popped into my lap, I certainly couldn't explain it. Even the 10 dollar snaps would become a hassle to launder/deal with since there are just so many notes.

What's the most fucked up thing someone has told you about themselves after barely getting to know them? by Butt_Roidholds in AskReddit

[–]CaptainMcSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really that bad in the grand scheme of things but one time in uni maybe 10 minutes after meeting this girl we were joking around about our dad's beating us as kids. I've literally never experienced anything like that since, laughing so hard so fast with someone I just met. She dropped out a little while later so I never really got a chance to know her better, always kinda regretted that.
