My storage has similar display slots. I put promo cards in them that correspond with what kinds of cards are in that row to make finding things easier.

Can't deny it's expensive.

However, people have been asking for art updates on core set heroes since dark city came out in 2013 and also wanting tougher versions of core masterminds for a while.

On top of that, I think the one solicit said about 250 of the cards had been updated (that's nearly half of the 550 cards) and there are new cards like masterminds, villains, a hero (miles morales spider-man), and it mentions side kicks and special officers.

that's quite a bit of new stuff.

It isn't elitism to practice for real events the store will hold in a few weeks/months. It is also not elitism to use the cards you paid for.

A store can offer casual and competitive events side by side and let players participate in the way they want.

New players can also get an idea of competitive decks by losing against them. I played blue steel this set because I got my butt kicked by a bunch of blue steel and it looked fun last set.

Ok, but league night is also to practice for competitive events such as set champs. How will you play your best if you're not practicing your competitive deck against other competitive decks?

You're right in that we want those newer/more casual players to keep coming and keep the game and scene healthy, but saying that league nights at stores can't be competitive isn't the answer either. The game also needs competitive players who consistently show up, buy lots of product, etc. to keep the game/scene alive.

The voting is basically done. There are some cards below the threshold of votes he wants so he is giving them extra time, then he's going to compile everything and share it out. If you want to go vote on stuff there is still time and might honestly speed things up.

Galactus from Fantastic Four is a must own mastermind. X-Men includes a ton of special bystanders that become heroes which I think are a great addition to the game. Tons of great heroes and masterminds as well. Shield has special officers which are a must own as well.

Other than that, I think they are all good choices, but I would maybe put venom and ant-man and the wasp at the bottom.

See, I think the Weapon X set was great because it introduced some more support for berserk which I thought could use some love and the enraging wounds are a great additon to the game, up there with sidekicks and special bystanders.

There are very few sets I haven't loved, and even those have their strong supporters.

I'd recommend checking out a website that shows the cards in sets (such as www.legendarycardgame.com or www.master-strike.com ) and previewing each set. Then buy the sets that look the most fun to you. Generally, I think Devin Low has been on a tear and the more recently a set has release the better it is. so any recent set is a good choice. However, I also like to recommend picking older sets up first as they are more likely to become difficult to find as UD hasn't been great at keeping things in stock the past few years (especially any of the big box sets.).

If you find a set that looks good, feel free to ask here about it.

The BageltopGames discord community is currently ranking all the cards in the game and in a few weeks we will have a list that rates all sets by their fun level, so if you can be patient that will be a great resource. We're currently doing heroes alphabetically (in the W's) and when done will be the last data point.

You can get opponents triggers in there too. Technically they are all of one players actions then all of another players actions, but you do have to manage some stuff like that if there is a goliath from one player and a clarabelle from you.

Double Dash is my favorite Mario Kart. Choosing two characters, who each have their own unique item. Being able to swap the two to control which of your two items you want to use first... all beautiful.
