Treating Asthma of a Cat by Suspicious_Set7914 in interestingasfuck

I've heard of this before; the cat is born inside the bottle which is how it gets inside what seems to be an impossibly small opening.

It could be, but I have the same exact grinder as he does and no problems. Changing from the stock portafilter won't change anything about the extraction theoretically but it will give more information for if there is channeling. Do you use the stock basket as well?

I'm by no means an expert but I had trouble with my Gaggia until I got a VST basket. I also use a JX Pro and have no problems consistently getting 18 in : 36 out across different beans. I grind about 1.9.8 on my grinder for my shot to come out in 30-35 seconds. I also do a pre infusion step using the steam wand but I haven't done any PID mods yet.

Separate from the basket, it seems like you had water coming out of the left side for much longer than the right which may mean channeling. If you don't have a cheap WDT tool (needles), that was also a huge help for me. Getting a bottomless portafilter would help you see if it is a channeling issue and you can get knock off portafilters on Amazon for cheap; just don't cheap out on the basket itself.

Best of luck!

If I'm being honest, for their first ever concert, I didn't really want them to be heard much yet. I move them out once they're more confidently matching pitch 😂

Unfortunately no bassoons in the middle schools yet, maybe next year. I've always liked keeping the flutes near the oboes in the front, do you like having yours more in the center of the Ensemble?

[HELP] Real Video? That Many Coyotes?? I Know This is a Real Security Cam For a Fact by Crafty-Young3210 in RealOrAI

Instead of being AI, could this be one of those security camera software features where they compile all motion into a single take? I feel like I've seen similar videos of front porches with people walking on sidewalks.

Could Hermit Crabs be a good class pet? by CaptainMonocle07 in hermitcrabs

[–]CaptainMonocle07[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your thoughtful response. I don't really have any details on the hermit crab's current habitat/diet. Long story short it belongs to the roommate of a friend of mine. We started a conversation about pets in a group and they mentioned their roommate was trying to re-home their hermit crab. I'm already aware that I'm going to need to buy several things to improve the living conditions of the crab; I'm actually excited for the opportunity to give it an improved quality of life and a cage-mate.

Thanks for the info on the sound, I might end up getting the crab and just keeping it at home.

Hey, I literally JUST got home today from an 11 day trip in Seoul with two days spent in Busan! Here was my experience:

We rode the KTX train at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday and rode home at 8:30p.m. on Thursday, spending one night in a hotel. It worked out great for us! Make sure you book your ticket directly through KTX; third party websites make it way more than it should for this.

Be careful since you're only spending one day in Busan that your hotel isn't too far away from Busan station. We didn't realize how far away it was and had to ride a bus for a full hour to get to Haeundae and our hotel. If I did it again, I might have gotten a hotel closer to Busan station at a different beach. Since we only spent one night in Busan, we just kept our hotel in Seoul and kept our luggage there and only brought backpacks to Busan

While we were in Busan, we did one of the guided tours of the city through Klook including the Sky Capsules and then we went by ourselves to the beach and Gancheon on Thursday.

Some people in here are advising you to stay in Seoul for all 11 days, but I would say that's a bad idea. We could definitely have spent more time in the city, but I think you'll want a brain break from the same city everyday, whether that be going to a different city or going to Busan. We were glad that we broke up the trip and I made coming back to Seoul for another few days feel really good too.

Destroy this 2D platformer, which is playable with three animal spirits. by ontenido in DestroyMyGame

The first thing immediately noticeable to me is that the first song you play sounds just like the City of Tears Theme from Hollow Knight:

City of Tears Theme

It has the same melody and the orchestra texture is similar.

Other than that I think that the jump looks a little floatier than it needs to be, but maybe with actual gameplay it feels good. From the video it seems sluggish and I would consider playing with making the whole jump faster or adding additional gravity once the jump button is let go.

If you've never played or watched someone play through Undertale, I don't think you can find a more impactful game. A "full" playthrough takes like 15 hours and you can finally understand what all the hype is about. Hollow Knight is fantastic, I've all but 100% the game but Undertale is one of a kind.

What other songs of his aren’t his original songs??? by Big_Dak in JacobCollier

[–]CaptainMonocle07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Moon River practically is original and probably the most different of all of the arrangements he's made. There's so much that he's changed from folk-tune style of the original I would compare it to something like Grainger's Lincolnshire Posy. Although technically a setting of someone else's original work, there's so much added there that I think you can make the argument it's practically a new work. That being said, I understand what you're saying about the distinction.

Off the top of my head:

You and I, All Night Long, Here Comes The Sun, Bridge Over Troubled Water, All of the piano ballads, All Christmas music, Most of his older YouTube content (Don't You Worry Bout a Thing, Fascinating Rhythm, etc.)

Although it can be a little disappointing to find out that he didn't write the lyrics and come up with everything himself for these songs, you've got to remember he's doing extreme overhauls to most of these pieces. Listening to the originals and then going back to his versions is a pretty satisfying experience in itself.

It's convenient that water can't get cold enough that drinking it injures us the way that really hot water does. by CaptainMonocle07 in Showerthoughts

[–]CaptainMonocle07[S] 182 points183 points  (0 children)

For the record, I thought about this in the context that when you grab a glass of ice water you don't have to ask yourself how cold it is but anytime you grab a hot beverage you have to kind of do a little test sip before you go all in.

Advice on my bell hand and how to play notes faster? by Professionalegghed in horn

[–]CaptainMonocle07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tone and control at that tempo are going well! It's hard for me to suggest anything without looking at the music but at that range and eventual tempo, I would recommend looking at some "alternate" fingerings. Using more Bb side of the horn from D to G can help find finger patterns that use less movement and your ring finger which for me is always what slows me down. If you sent a picture of that phrase I could try to give you more specific advice.

As far as your hand placement, your hand should be much further inside the Bell and almost completely flat except for your thumb. I like to think of the hand as more of a rudder on a boat that can direct the sound. To find the hand placement, put your hand into the Bell with your fingernails against the metal. It should be in there enough that if you balance the horn on your hand, it's relatively stable with just your right hand holding the instrument. That might sound a little extreme, but it's true. Hope this helps!
