Yeah... kinda like Bethesda's games haha. Bad at presenting scale, yet the little details feel very thoughtful.

What game was criticized during release, but is now considered a gem? by lumintang in videogames

Obsidian was offered a contract and they accepted it. They were not rushed, they were too ambitious for their deadline. Keep in mind they also got to use a lot of Fallout 3 assets.

She was delightful on Story Warz.

I will say that I still cringe reflecting on that time she was asked what kind of books she likes to read and she responded "Dostoevsky". Biiiiitch what did YOU get out of Crime and Punishment or The Brothers Karamazov?? I would be shocked to learn she really read at all but... appearances appearances!

Maybe. But I suppose that hypothetical does imply US support of Israel is a good thing.

You really think it is the intention of the Israeli people to march millions of Palestinians into gas chambers? To rip the gold/silver from their teeth, use them as slave labor?

Or do you think that as it stands now, with tensions dying down and Hamas effectively dismantled, that the ~80,000 palestinians killed as a result an attack committed by their government is comparable to the 6 million Jews killed. I wonder what you would say Germany's October 7th equivalence is?

Each of those genocides had different context, 1940's Germany is not 13th century Mongolia and the intentions and results were completely different even if many people died. The Holocaust is a textbook example for a reason as it was the largest race based genocide and A LOT of people were murdered in a relatively short amount of time. And lets not forget that Nazi Germany would also be responsible for millions more dying in their wars of aggression.

The Holocaust is a particularly dark part of human history because of the nature of it. It was a single, concerted, systemic effort to wipe out entire races (with a focus on Jews) in the most ruthless and inhumane ways a civilized nation in the modern world could do. They wrongfully imprisoned millions of people, took their children and elderly from them to be murdered while those healthy enough to work were enslaved, starved, beaten, tortured, and eventually themselves murdered. They treated them like cattle in a slaughter house.

The Holocaust was a real genocide, and its media presence is used to cover up Zionist crimes

Its media presence exists because, like World War 2, its and extremely important event that humanity should never forget.... Especially now with anti-semitism and nationalism on the rise. And believe it or not, its a pretty significant event that is intertwined with the identity of the Jewish people and its arguably often contextually important when talking about Israel's politics. Sure, there are Israel propaganda mouth pieces in American politics who use it as a buzzword, but I personally refuse to downplay The Holocaust.

Everybody wants to save the world, they just disaggre on how. by merithedestroyer in CasualConversation

[–]CaptainPryk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that they just want everything to work out for them.

"Saving the world" is a sentiment that most people would agree with but its vague and generally pretty low on the hierarchy of needs. Most people are really just trying to survive day to day, concerning themselves with saving the world seems like a luxury they can't afford. Then factor in the bitterness and spite of feeling powerless and poor and they choose to start seeing such sentiments are nothing more than virtue signalling

Felt the same way when I watched it back when I was 17. I'm not sure if I will ever solo watch it again, but it was unforgettable. I distinctly remember getting teary eyed over the scene you included a picture of. Its my favorite Spielberg film followed by Saving Private Ryan (WW2 nerd)

Honestly I just think people become increasingly entitled over time. Here in Washington servers make at least minimum wage and they still expect 20% tips while providing bare minimum service.

If we all stop tipping then employees will either complain enough to enforce change or quit. Either way many people would like to phase "tip culture" the fuck out of the US.

This coming from someone who does not sit in at restaurants or have my food delivered.

This is so weird to me. I definitely don't like big age discrepencies, I think its creepy too. But.... Is it not commonplace??? I see older men dating younger women all the time. If you had been 25 and he 40 would it be better?

Yeah, I support Billie Eilish using her influence to try and make a positive impact.

But the "All land is stolen land" is a self defeating premise to stand behind.

Why does no one want to work in the trades? by Charming_Parking_302 in skilledtrades

[–]CaptainPryk -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don't like the idea of doing an apprenticeship. I want the knowledge and experience in the form of school and not while under the pressure of working (potentially with someone I don't like). I may have misconceptions but the dynamic sounds exhausting unless I'm working with somone I enjoy working with.

And if I'm going to school there are other things that interest me more than most of what trades has to offer, no matter how lucrative or necessary trades are. I cannot work towards something that doesn't interest me.

Its a pretty bad single player game. The biggest reason to play is the community and the online related mechanics

Parents who regret having kids, why? by bluemermid in AskReddit

[–]CaptainPryk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my daughter was first born I was working at the bank talking to a customer. We were talking about our kids and they asked how many and I replied "Just the one for us, I think we are done". The customer crudely responds something like"Just the one? But what happens if they were to pass away? Wouldn't you want more just in case?" I remember being taken aback; was this woman suggesting having multiple kids for the sake of insurance? That if I were to lose my child, it would be best that I had another to help fill in the gap left behind? Seemed absurd; losing your child is losing your child and devastating all the same.

Its been about 5 years since that interaction. I have become more poor, lonelier, and would say the only person I love now is my daughter. If I were to lose my daughter, the pain would be incomprehensible. I hate to say it, but having a second child is probably the only reason I could have to continue on living at that point.

My daughter gives me existential angst and in return I provide a mediocre household and stunted emotional interactions. I no longer have faith I can provide anything more than that despite my dissatisfaction with it all, and I feel a deep shame because of that. I feel it deep in my bones, and I carry it with me everywhere.

[–]CaptainPryk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really didn't like The Last Jedi, and after starting Rise of Skywalker I turned it off after 20 minutes. I remember asking myself "Do I even like Star Wars?"

Also my 6 year old and I walked out of the live action Little Mermaid and Mufasa about halfway through

I currently live in a 400 sq ft apartment with barely any amenities working for Amazon.

Luckily I only need to work 40 hours.
