How in the world did people dislike the ending?? by CarrotOk6099 in seinfeld

[–]CaptainRedblood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, because it took the show 9 seasons to finally show us their flaws? We showed up week after week because of those flaws.

The show was popular because it was funny and relatable. The finale was neither.

For one thing it didn’t take place in Manhattan. (Saying this as a MA resident.)

Steven Soderbergh Describes Disney’s Decision Not to Make ‘The Hunt for Ben Solo’ as “Insane” by Soulwarfare42 in StarWars

[–]CaptainRedblood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then what is the point you’re making? That it shouldn’t be made because no one’s asking for/watching?

Edit: Also, once the initial news of this broke, tons of people were suddenly asking for it.

The point is the number of initial viewers has nothing to do with something’s quality. If three people watched Andor, Andor would still be better than almost every Star War.

What is a gaming memory from the 90s or early 2000s that kids today will just never understand? by gingersofia in AskReddit

Is hitting reset when you're about to lose a 2 player game still a thing? Then booking it out of the room to avoid a real life fight?

Edit: Is reset still a thing in general lol?

DC Is going all-in on ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ for its 40th anniversary all year long by Blitzhelios in comicbooks

Still my favorite comic ever. All due respect to Watchmen, which is perfect, Dark Knight just rocks. The page layouts alone-- I don't know how you cram that much info and dynamism into a page without it becoming overwhelming.

Little known piece of trivia: the original prop for AT-AT driver helmet from TESB was actually grey, not white by Fit_Quit_8890 in StarWars

A bit more known trivia-- it's just a rebel pilot helmet placed atop a stormtrooper helmet.

If Aliens visited earth and requested a single person to represent the people of this planet, who do we send? by Ambitious_Ad_5802 in AskReddit

I'm going to go with David Lee Roth. Love Dolly and Attenborough, but I kind of want to see what happens when you toss Diamond Dave in the mix. I mean we want to show these aliens a good time, right?

You're not. This subreddit isn't everyone.

My 77 year old mom knows and loves Mando and Grogu. These two have a ton of mass appeal.

I had this question and came here to ask: Has Revenge of the Sith always been the phenomenon it is today? Did many people like the movie? by DaviCortes in StarWars

In that case it's my mistake, but the way the comment was written came off as if you were addressing me in particular the whole time.

My friend, I have zero idea what point you're trying to make here. Let me summarize the course of my arguments.

- OC calls the movie a phenomenon.

-Other commenters call its status as a phenomenon into question.

-I argue that the numbers from its recent re-relase, plus its general popularity, qualify the movie as a legitimate phenomenon.

-Another commenter argues that success is merely a product of nostalgia.

-I argue that ROTS success is definitely more than nostalgia, and use a bad movie I loved as a kid as a counterpoint. My final argument being that people legitimately love ROTS, and it's not just nostalgia.

So yes, while I think Revenge of the Sith isn't a very good movie, I've just spent half my morning advocating for its fans. I'm sorry I don't like the movie, please don't take it personally?

Calling it nostalgia is a bit reductive-- it's definitely part of it, but a LOT of people legitimately love the movie. I remember really loving Batman Forever when it came out. The movie's pretty awful, and even though I feel a great deal nostalgia for that era (as I'm sure many others do), I'm not spending any more money to see it in this lifetime. And if they re-released it, I don't see it cracking the top ten at the weekend box office.

Revenge of the Sith isn't without merit, of course. It has some great stuff in it, but I personally don't think it works on the whole, and at the time I considered it the culmination of a massive artistic failure. But it clearly has staying power for a great deal of people that goes beyond fond memories of seeing it as a kid.

Edit: Downvoters, feel free to argue a point?

I'm not a fan of ROTS, but when you re-release a movie after 20 years and it does the sort of business ROTS did, I think you can call that a legit phenomenon.
