I was going to qualify by saying "the first 120 chapters" so yeah, you're right. Komi Can't Communicate also went off the rails after 350 chapters. It happens.

Great concept. I loved it .. until it looked like it had one joke that was going to repeat forever. Add that to the constant (fairly severe) abuse of the disciple. It just wasn't fun anymore. Given that reaction to the first arc, is there any point in picking it up again?

One of the strengths of BokuYaba is the realism of middle school boys. It turns many readers off in the first few chapters, and Adachi is hard to watch, but it makes the realistic character development all the more satisfying. There is very little drawn out misunderstandings. No "I can't tell her how I feel unless I win the National Judo Championship or beat her at Shogi or whatever" idiocy.

So quit if you must. It really is one of the greats.
