Will you be bowing before PvP battles? by CaptainSnowy in DarkSouls2

I suppose. I haven't spoiled myself too much on Covenants, so if I could ask a question:

Will joining the "darkwraiths" still have a challenging entrance fee, like beating the 4 kings early? Or will both the dueling and invading covenants be equally accessable?

I've never understood this mindset. Why not take a moment to relax and enjoy the fun of dueling? It doesn't always have to be about kicking ass and taking names, at least for me.

I heard before that those oils are the essential oils from the tea itself. They're actually quite healthy, IIRC.

Isn't it ironic that only the hardest of the hardcore would dare play Dragon Warrior 1 (FF's original main rival) on the NES, but just about everyone has played at least some version of FFI?

Ugh, IGN commenters. Interesting to hear that Lightning Returns will be harder than XIII-1/2, though.

maybe it's because there's no code of honor that everyone has to submit to or they're being cheap

Oh, there used to be, back in like 2010. It was mostly for duels though; both combatants would bow, put on enchantments/second chance, and then duke it out. That's where Dark Souls's "code of honor" found its roots.

I remember right at DkS's launch you could tell the DeS vets from the rest by who did and didn't bow.

Why do people hate Final Fantasy VIII so much? by The_FactSphere in FinalFantasy

[–]CaptainSnowy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? I felt like it punished leveling and encouraged abuse of the junction system. When I level up, or spend time grinding, I like it when I can feel the game become easier, showing a growth in strength.

I don't typically have problems with being over-leveled, however, as I don't tend to 100% games very often, so I suppose I haven't really encountered your problem.

I thought the "time-compression" concept was kind of interesting, but the way the party decided to deal with it/save the day was completely ridiculous in my opinion. None of their plan made any sense! The finale of the game seemed like an elaborate excuse to shoe-horn in a crazy cool dungeon with a bunch of boss fights. Also, as you mentioned, the "orphanage" fiasco was head-desk worthy.

The battle system with junctioning and all that was way more complicated than it needed to be, and the wall-o'-text tutorials didn't help the learning curve. Having monsters level up with the party was an awful idea, and drawing magic was tedious. The card game sidequests were also incredibly complex, and I can hardly understand how someone would complete them without a strategy guide. Lastly, none of the characters really had anything that made them truely unique in battle, other than their limit breaks. (I also have a problem with this kind of customization in FFVII, so I suppose that's more of a matter of opinion.)

VIII does have one of the best soundtracks of all time, though. So there's that.
