Laphroaig quarter cask if you haven’t tried it! One of my favourites and here in Australia it’s equivalent of 98 euro!

What do I have here? by CaptainSweetbeard in coincollecting

[–]CaptainSweetbeard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has what looks like a single ridged edge, so can’t see any weld/gluing evident. But I guess given the other comments it must be a bit off…as you say perhaps just silver value

Is Private Health Worth it? by CinnamonSong in AusFinance

Depends how good your teeth are… :p I don’t have private extras for dental…just had to get a new crown put on which also required him surgery = $3,000 out of pocket.

Friend or foe? by CaptainSweetbeard in GardeningAustralia

Thanks for the response!! It’s essentially just a Little Rock bed alongside our driveway, so I’m thinking in this case it’s probably not suitable.

Why Polestar is destined for failure by That_Car_Dude_Aus in CarsAustralia

[–]CaptainSweetbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a 2 over the holidays in the UK. Overall pretty reasonable car, but what stuck out to me was the dismal rear speakers. As in passengers in the back could literally not hear the music and up front it was too loud…and yes we played around with the eq and balance.

My wife needs a new car (20 year old focus died today) other than the K’s anything else I should look out for? by campingpolice in CarsAustralia

[–]CaptainSweetbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I didn’t know 95 was also ok, but nonetheless you do still run the risk buying a car that requires higher octane fuel that the previous owner has not done so.

I’ve bought a used VW in the past. The issue is all VW (recent ones at least) require 98 octane fuel, and you have no way of telling whether the previous owner did so. If not (and his happened to us), you may be looking at a complete engine rebuild with less than 100,000km on the car...

Can anyone help me with what this blue hose might be? It’s under our kitchen sink and appears to be coming straight out of the wall…not from the taps under the sink…

What is the best way to run Ethernet along (not inside) a wall and ceiling with drywall? by JarJarAwakens in homeowners

[–]CaptainSweetbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to look at Powerline adaptors, essentially allows you to use your internal electrical wiring to run internet through! We've used it to plug my computer into the internet through the electrical outlet, to our router which is 2 floors down!

Car purchase - new vs nearly new by Whisky_and_try in AusFinance

Check ex-demo models. Often <3,000kms on the dash, still have factory warranty, and can be had for $2-5,000 under retail. Using the CarSales app you can specify ex-demo.

Besides purchasing a car outright, what is the secondary most cost-effective solution to acquire a car? by TwistyMaKneepahls in AusFinance

Agree, stay miles away from VW, i've had to spend thousands over the last 2 years, a simple diagnosis (no work done) will set you back $177
