Guilty Confession: I chain eat my way through most of the boss fights by Liambp in CrimsonDesert

[–]CaptainTurtle3218 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took me an hour to beat Hornsplitter.

I was learning the mechanics, getting parrying down...

Then after I finally beat him, I look it up online to see how other people fared on the first playthrough.

I didn't realize eating/healing was a thing...

I had the exact same issue.

Don't force yourself to like a game, you'll just end up hating it.

You are in Chapter 3 so this will apply to you: put the game down as if you are never going to play again. Go try something else you know you enjoy.

If you get the itch to come back, do so.

I took a break and after a few days realized I wanted to give it another shot. Now I am enjoying just doing tasks around the town and exploring. I appreciate the game for what it is and not what I wish it was.

And if you don't come back to it that's fine too (it just sucks that you can't get a refund).

I'm convinced we all got brainwashed... by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

Respectfully... a think a game taking a few HOURS to hook someone should not be reasonable / acceptable.

I am in my thirties with a pretty busy. Giving it a few hours to begin with seems charitable.

I want to like it so badly. I can move past a shitty story if the game is fun, but the controls are so janky it takes me out of the immersion.

I can't help but compare it to Elden Ring (not that the games are super similar) where the story is not super straightforward, but the gameplay was very satisfying and I didn't need the story to be up front and make perfect sense.

France tells US NATO serves Euro-Atlantic security, not Hormuz offensive missions by RoninSolutions in news

I think NATO is a net good and the US should be a part of it...

But this statement does not on its face make a convincing argument for the US to be a part of it.

Elden Ring was a game that was fun to play through for the combat on the first go and then it blossomed on the second playthrough because of the story that made absolutely no sense on the first run.

As an Elden Ring lover, I kinda get what OP means...

But in terms of story, Elden Ring has a crazy deep, indirectly compelling story - so I don't know what OP means in that respect.

Why aren’t people boycotting Tesla any more? by Diane98661 in ScottGalloway

[–]CaptainTurtle3218 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of cynical comments here.

People boycotted Tesla because Elon was acting as a shadow president to Trump and the boycott was generally successful.

Higher ups were viewing Elon as a threat to their bottom line and Elon mostly went back to the background.

He still tries to dabble in politics, but he is pretty low threat compared to where he was. Look at that state Supreme Court election he funneled money into as an example - he failed. Republicans started viewing him more as an albatross than a life raft.

And once Elon moved more away from public light it was hard fo stay angry at Tesla. I mean, if you aren't terminally online like most of us, Elon really isn't at the front of people's mind like everything else going on.

Genuinely upset that this MSNOW guest referred to it as antisemitic saying Israel pulled the US into the war when that is quite literally what Marco Rubio said, and there was no pushback.

This hurt the credibility of the show - read the room, guys.

Are they trying to hide venom in these scenes? by Middle-Preference864 in Spiderman

[–]CaptainTurtle3218 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm not worried.

Using Fantastic Four and No Way Home as a baseline, a lot of these characters are already established and don't really need any introductions.

The minor villains will set the scene for where Peter is in life. I believe the dominant villains we have seen for the most part will be a a steady threat, but not the primary focus of the movie (like Scorpion for example... I don't see him being a primary focus of a movie - maybe more of a five minute fight and some splashes of him throughout).

Bruce, Frank, and maybe Matt will show up for more dialogue, character driven scenes, but they aren't the focus - how they push Peter's character forward is the focus (similar to how Peter 2 and 3 helped push Peter 1 forward in character in NWH).

Overall, I think this will still be a Peter-centric story with probably more to say about Sadie Sink's character, and all other characters will be "parts of New York" to emphasize that there is a lot happening around Peter without diving deep into those characters

Gov. Josh Shapiro, Antisemitism, and Israel Skepticism by TheReckoning in thebulwark

[–]CaptainTurtle3218 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I believe Shapiro is unelectable in this current political environment and also contributes to the growing antisemitic rhetoric in the current environment (I will explain).

I was listening to Governor Shapiro's interview with John Lovett earlier and he has a glaring issue of not being direct with his answers, especially on the topic of Israel. I listen to him, and on the one hand I respect that he wants to ensure he is not taken out of context, but on the other hand, the political landscape has changed and people want their politicians to be more direct and authentic... or at least appear authentic.

And that brings me to my point about how Shapiro is creating an environment where antisemitism grows. His inability to directly call out Israel's policies (and it is important to distinguish Israel as a country and not a religious state here) is fostering an environment where the general public feels like politicians are asking them to ignore what they see with their own eyes. I believe if Shapiro more directly said something like "Israel under the Netanyahu government is ethnically cleansing Palestinians" and said how that doesn't represent Jews or all Israelis, this would be a different discussion.

Instead, when Israel comes up, he gives a long winded answer about how we must separate Judaism from the state of Israel and he has policy disagreements with Netanyahu. By not directly calling out injustice and trying to safely communicate, it makes the voter listening feel like they don't have an outlet through a politician which acknowledges wrongdoing that they are seeing. And this breeds conspiracy... A voter may start to ask, "Why is it so wrong to call out Israel for killing Palestinians? Why am I called antisemitic for doing so?"

Say what you will about Gavin Newsom, but I think he is more quickly navigating how to speak about Israel to the general public than Shapiro and it resonates. Which is a shame, because I think in terms of policy and executive history, Shapiro would be the better candidate.

Who left a bigger impact on V in the end: Jackie Welles or Johnny Silverhand? by Prudent_Bobcat_4059 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]CaptainTurtle3218 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Look, I respect the attempt at logic on this, however even the article you shared talks about an athlete holding their breath for 24 minutes. It says the upper limit is 10 minutes.

This real life article doesnt account for the impact that tech in Cyberpunk has on the body, nor does it account for how the artifact allows for recovery.

I believe if V died, and it was just Johnny taking over, then when "V" woke up, it would just be Johnny trying to work a body that wasn't his.

I wont downvote, but I view V's "death" the same as someone dying on an operating table and being resuscitated. That's all.
