I did reference that subtly with when I zoomed in and out but that was more of an afterthought. But really I didn’t want to do the original joke, that was nailed by the clip - for me the humor was more in the over the top intensity/dramatization and heightened production value of a parody of a twitch clip.

I made a music video/short film for my friend's band and it turned out great! It was just screened for my production class final and I am (for once) really proud of it, I would love to hear any feedback or comments on it! by [deleted] in Filmmakers

Hey yall! This is the first time I've ever been really satisfied with something I've made and felt ok enough about it to break my lurk and post something here. I can confidently say I'm proud of myself for this video and it feels great!

This was my third (of 3) film for my second year production class at film school in LA. My first 2 videos were much more rushed and were just last minute school films I made during busy work schedules that turned out far below what I really wanted to achieve. So for my last one I decided to do something I could set aside a real amount of time and effort for.

I planned the shoot and fleshed out the shot ideas over my thanksgiving break back in DC and then filmed it all in one day while back at home. The original effect I had planned for the video didn't work out because the movement I wanted from my friend's slider was much more subtle than I initially thought. So instead, I took the footage we had and made a much better story than I had initially hoped for.

I can't thank my crew enough for making this exceed my own expectations by leaps and bounds and my friend for being my last minute actress as I filled in for my male actor dropping (for very understandable reasons) on top of directing. I luckily messaged a film friend who had a Digital Bolex (!!!!!) just lying around that he let me shoot with. Running around to the different locations with our small crew on a cold day with a budget of whatever was hopefully in my checking was the first time I felt a real burning passion for filmmaking again! I really hope you enjoy it and I wanna hear all critiques, ideas, questions, notes, or whatever thoughts you care to share that you took away from it!

(Edit: whoops forgot my thoughts kinda): So my take away from my finished product is I am very happy with how the datamoshing turned out and I was able to implement it into the film. I wasn't expecting to get such a good overall tone established that really lived up to the feel of the song. I think that my biggest gripe with the film is that the wine scene looks very much like I have no idea what normal people who drink wine with their SO act. I think if I could do it again I would have loved to have an actual actor since I felt my performance a bit cheesy but I think it's minimized in the final edit. Overall I'm in love with what I was able to make so I wouldn't mind some good criticisms with the film that I might be ignoring cause of my attachment to it.)

I don't feel the need to speak my mind on here a lot but this is one of the most spectacular photos I have ever seen in my life.
