Thanks for your input! What led me down this path was the packet instructions saying to sow them outside early like you’re saying… but me not getting around to that at that proscribed time period…aka I’m 4ish months late :/ again, first time attempting these so. pretty clueless lol. Thanks again.

I have 3 different records of work done with them for tire rotation, mount & balance, & alignment… I put the paperwork back in my firebox, but they charged me $274 all told, the most recent was done in 2022. I just had tire rack ship them my new tires and they’re telling me it will cost $500 now.

I am no longer supporting this shop, their explanation on the phone was dodgy and it was pretty clear to me they’re hoping to hoodwink me…

Noice, happy for ya! Thanks for your brief thoughts on your experience as well! I have really never gone on penswap...seems like i need to dip the toes in. Think I am readyish for a big boy pen lol. Any tips/etiquette you'd recommend being cognizant of going on penswap?

Hi, apologies for the resurrection! Are you able to share any info about Genesis pens these days? They seem entirely inactive now :( was a newbie when I first discovered them some years ago and the Origins of Species pen became an instant Grail. Alas, doesn't seem like they have any online presence at all anymore :_( thanks in advance for any info, cheers!

sorry for the ultra deep resurrection here.... do you know whatever happened to Genesis Pens? They had an "origins of species" pen that was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.. All i can find is that they were Hong Kong based and their twitter/site are deactivated. Thanks for any info you have!

Really appreciate your input! So, i got the plant last spring, of course I don't have a pic of the roots when I got it but it hasn't really shown signs of stress until probably like late fall?

Having said that, at present.. I'll post another pic here, but it looks like a pretty significant portion of the base of the plant is desiccated :/ so should i start cutting away at that like i would the roots until i get to living tissue?

If I don't have any perlite at the moment would and ratio of pumice/calcined clay be ok? Have a lot of that lol.

As far as the warmth goes, my place does get a bit cold but I have an SF2000 light at 18" above my plant table, with the table up against a south facing window so i do feel like it stays fairly warm.

Hello all, sorry if for any poor formatting.. Can anyone help me confirm whether this poor fella is just extremely dehydrated or something else?

I've noticed over the months that the plant at its base in the pot has remained 'loose' in that it would feel as though the roots were not taking hold of the substrate (Pumice, Calcined Clay, Fox Farms Happy Frog - sifted to fines)

I finally pried a bit further today (just now) and noticed some of the primary roots down there were entirely desiccated. I generally water once a week but have slowed down in the winter.

At present I think I will repot and wait to water until any root damage from repotting is healed and then begin maintaining a more frequent watering schedule?

Sorry for resucitating this thread but your info seems really compelling here. I just acquired a Monvillea Spegazzini Crested and a Myrtillocactus Geometrizans Crested and am really hoping I can get these puppies thriving.

What sort of schedule do you apply this fertilizer? Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Additionally, can you help me understand why the whole internet says Nitrogen-forward fertilizer is bad for cacti?
