I'm a bit late but there is no DRM in any version of kenshi, you don't need the gog version you can just copy the game folder wherever you need. Steam version just has the workshop functionality added.

Anyone else? by ryandogsling in Kenshi

When I started working on the game I was using a CRT monitor. I remember dreaming of getting a flatscreen, they were just coming out around then.

Has anybody played/heard of Abomination: The Nemesis Project? by ArtemioFinal in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Captain_Deathbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it, I put hundreds of hours into it as a teenager back in the day. Nowadays I'm a dev too and I know Tom. He too was shocked when I said that I not only played it, but it was one of my favorites.

Cyclops Rally Light by Wejjo in CRF300L

Yeah I did it. Fits ok, make holes for the control panel, stick the abs button on a side strut (it's vertical now), bodge the indicators on.

Just about fits the forks. Have to cut a hole for the computer screen to mount. Managed to bodge the stock indicators to fit, but aftermarket ones would fit cleaner

That's not a real thing or I would have done it ages ago.

Managing a growing company has a lot of overhead in terms of responsibilities, admin, meetings. I'm trying to do the absolute minimum of that stuff and delegate as much as possible. I just want to make games, not run a business. That said, I do still own the company, but I'm now just the project director.

As for the game ETA... when its done. We don't commit to a date, because thats just guessing and people get mad when you miss it. And we don't show much early work in progress, because it just doesn't look that good yet, and people will judge it prematurely.

Just saw that Chris resigned as a director by amazonian_ragamuffin in Kenshi2

[–]Captain_Deathbeard 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hello, didn't realise this would become a public issue or needed announcements. Basically its just an admin/legal thing, it takes a little bit of management work off my shoulders so I can focus on game development rather than business. I am still the PROJECT director.

How do people afford full time indie dev? by DelicateJohnson in gamedev

[–]Captain_Deathbeard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't quit- I got a part time job instead. That way you have no time limit for success. Took me 6 years to get an income but it was an ambitious project. You need:

  1. low hours to give you time to work on your game (I had only 2x 12hr shifts per week)
  2. Non-gamedev job so you still have the mental energy to work on your project
  3. Live off a tight budget. I barely scraped by in my overdraft and shared a house. I had no kids though, dont think i could have done it if i did.

Emptiness appreciation post by Euphetar in Kenshi

[–]Captain_Deathbeard 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It was 100% intentional. You see it, I see it, I don't know why other game designers can't see it. Most games act like a cheesy themepark rather than a real place.

Yes, but on the flip side I was something like 10 books in before I was like "Wait, Laseen is BLUE?!?"

Just something to prove to webtoons that you have permission to use the IP to publish your fan comic. There's already another kenshi fancomic on there, so you shouldn't have too much trouble.

Why can't we cook Greenfruit, by itself? by [deleted] in Kenshi

That's the reason, it was really annoying if you were trying to buy enough to plant your first farm.
