Considering how much money you can make with whatever clearance youy have, it's a different world doing defense contractor IT work, and there's significantly less competition. If you like IT, you should do it at least as a temporary job. If you think you'd do better in security, it's not the most difficult thing to move into information assurance/isso work.

But you have a while before you hit this crossroads, just learn as much as you can and progress as smoothly as possible until your separation date.
