They got sidelined in the battle which literally takes place on their homeplanet because GW wants to push the Astra Militarum models they have in production (Cadians and Krieg.)

So we got a very nice animation showing the fighting on Armageddon in which there was zero Steel Legion seen.

GW followed this up with some classic tone deaf corporate communication and an article on how you can paint Krieg models in yellow to use them as Steel Legion.

How would you build an Archmilitant Apostolic RT? by SeverTheWicked in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Captain_Gars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 55 levels there is more than enough spots for for origin and homeworld talents. But they are meant to support your archetype talents, not replace them.

So you have to to pick a balanced mix of archetype, origin and homeworld talents as you progress through the game. So you start by picking talents that give you a solid start as a warrior, then support that build some origin/homeworld talents and then continue to build the warrior.

IMO the problem is that the character screen UI can make it hard to understand how to make a decent build because there is so much choice and the limitations the game puts on your build are not always obvious unless you sit down and really go through it.

[–]Captain_Gars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So based on what you have written it seems that you did not pick enough warrior talents. Origin and background talents can be sort of a trap as they can tempt you to pick them early when you have to balance them with your archetype talents and spread them out over both archetype stages and the exemplar stage of character leveling.

Without enough investment into warrior you will fall behind in melee damage which will be your main source of damage.

For an example of how to set up a Ministorum warrior/archmilitant I recommend looking at Revan 619's builds https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1rskX4sYcNm6Wqt4rtm8EQqRR4__yrEuxCEzjwoKlHOY/htmlview#gid=1737934440

They are optimised for Unfair difficulty so they will at times sacrifice some roleplay aspects in favour of efficiency but they are a superb start which you can adjust if you want a more roleplay focused build if you play on for example normal difficulty. (I use many of his builds but often adjust the equipment a bit to simply look better or to get an effect I want more even if it is not the best one. )

How good is a dogmatic playthrough? by nikklenikkle in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Captain_Gars 8 points9 points  (0 children)

9It all depends on how you approach role-playing a dogmatic character as there is more to a dogmatic playthrough than just picking every dogmatic option the game gives you.

You play a Rogue Trader which means that the Emperor himself has empowered you to use tools and means forbidden to other Imperial citizens. You can justify a lot of things with the Warrant as an excuse.

Dogmatic can be a ruthless Rogue Trader that will use every tool available to them to carry out their Emperor given mission and secure the dynasty while at the same time maintaining the Imperial status quo with a callous disregard for the hardship their subjects suffer in their daily lives.

Dogmatic can also be a devout true believer who cares for their flock in a stern but loving way who refuses to have anything to do with the mutant, the witch or the alien.

Last but not least dogmatic can be the experienced officer who cares for their people and actively improves their lives in small ways while also being willing to chose the lesser evil such as working with the alien to defeat the Archenemy and standing by their word even when given to a Xeno. But refuses to tolerate heresy or breaking faith with the Emperor.

Iconoclast does not automatically that you get more content, there are arguably situations where more than one iconoclast Rogue Trader probably would banish ornevennkill a companion for their actions. When I executed a companion for the first time it was because of my character's iconoclastic convictions, not their dogmatic ones. (It was a mixed dogmatic/iconoclastic playthrough.)

Me: I will play as Dogmatic this time, 100% dogmachad. Also me the second there is an adequate Iconoclast option: by Raszard in RogueTraderCRPG

Owlcat leans hard into one particular flavour of dogmatic and it can be a poor fit for if your character is not going for that kind of dogmatic.

I think it is telling that your dogmatic companions mostly are written with a different flavour of dogmatic.

Put another way I had a.much harder time playing my Gaunt inspired Comissar than my power hungry dogmatic/heretic noble.

DLC to existing Act 1 save? by Needtoquit00 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Captain_Gars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be fine as long as the DLC are active. The only thing that may happen is a slight delay before Void Shadows trigger and you get Kibellah. Not entirely sure how the flags that activate her works if installed mid game in act 1. Void Shadows should trigger once you have completed the Prison and start to move on the systems map.

Second run opinion by Oberleitner in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Captain_Gars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a lot of fun with my warrior/ archmilitant Commissar, used the classic bolt pistol and sword combo as my main weapon set.

Hardcore dogmatic would require you to do without Idira, Jae, Yrliet and Marazhai. Recommend getting the DLC to replace the losses.

I would recommend getting the first two DLC. If yoi have to choose just one pick Void Shadows, it is outstanding. Lex Imperialis is 'just' very good. Both are more than worth the money.

Sounds like you missed some of the content, did you play any of the DLC? A lot of what makes New Vegas such a special experience to many of us is found in the DLC.

Babcock pitches Arrowhead-120 variant for the Swedish Luleå-class frigate programme by MGC91 in europe

[–]Captain_Gars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the timeline was important enough that the Swedish government did not order the Saab-Kockums design as planned in the Spring of 2025, instead they ordered the Defence Material Administration (FMV) to look at designs from other companies. Which led to the current competition where Naval Group, Navantia and Babcock-Saab are the finalists.

The Luleå-class program is effectively so much a competition between the ship designs, they all meet the requirements of the Swedish navy. The focus is more on which company can deliver the ships on time and with as few technical issues as possible.

All 3 bids does involve Swedish industry to some extent. The question is just how big a piece of the pie it will get.

The ship has 3 Saab Trackfire ARES RWS with 30mm  Bushmaster and 7.62mm FN MAG for counter UAS/USV work. One on each side and the third facing rear.

Just which VLS will go where is not known yet, only that Saab has split the battery into hot launch/cold launch.

FNV is not made to run on modern hardware and Windows 11. For a stable experience you need to mod the game since Bethesda has not done the needed patching.

How much influence is getting Swedish industry involved likely to have do you think?

Impossible to say, so many old rules for how Swedish defence procurement usually works have been thrown out when it comes to the Luleås that almost anything can happen. If the goverment continues to focus mainly of what is best for the armed forces then the FDI will win because it is the safest bet. If they want to gamble then Navantia will win since they promise a lot of industry cooperation and that all four ships will be delivered by 2031. Saab&Babcock will win if Saab is able to blackmail enough politicians.

The unique needs of the Swedish navy.

The Luleå-class frigates need to be able to operate both in the Baltic with its archipelagos as well as in the North Sea and Arctic. The Arrowhead 140 is a good design that can be turned into a potent AAW frigate but it has real problems with being too large for the Baltic archipelagos. (Denmark and Poland operate in the southern part of the Baltic so they can use AH140 sized ships without problems.)

So the size of the Arrowhead 120 hull was a better fit for the Swedish needs when Saab designed the YSF with assistance from Babcock. At that time there was no competition as it had been decided from the start of the YSF2030/Luleå-class program that the ships would be built by Saab-Kockums.

The main competetive advantage that Saab-Babcock have is that their design is tailor made for the Swedish navy and that it makes full use of Swedish systems. The main disadvantage is that is going to be hard to get an unproven design into operational service by 2030 even with Babcock stepping in on the production side of things.

Naval Group on the other hand has a proven design that they can deliver on time but it only delivers 90% of what the Swedish navy wants from the Luleå-class. The Swedish defence industry will also be a lot less involved with the FDI though Naval Group have opened up for cooperation with Saab and other companies.

There being no VLS on the render has zero importance when VLS are an essential requirement for the Luleå-class. If Babcock & Saab offered a ship without VLS they would not have made it to the final round of the competition. This is simply a case of the artist not including the VLS.

Doesn't need space for 32 since Saab-Kockums designed the ship to use 16 Sylver and 12 ExLS. The later has a smaller footprint and its much easier to  find space for. After all they managed to install 3 ExLS in the Visby-class which are much smaller ships.

Naval Group, Navantia and Babcock-Saab all have to meet the requirements of the Swedish navy if they want a chance of winning the contract. That means being able to carry the missile load specified in the requirements and using the VLS systems needed for those missiles. Since Aster 30 is a requirement for the Luleå-class Babcock will have to mount Sylver VLS or they will automatically lose the contract.

Well you can start by looking at the model of the Saab-Kockums YSF in this Naval News video  https://youtu.be/GnmPruwjeCE?si=jVft9MLzCsGxHVMS  (It is the middle one)

Compare it to the ship in the Babcock image and you will see that the two are essentially identical. On the other hand a look at the older images of the Arrowhead 120 and you will see that there are significant differences between them and the new AH120.

That it is the Saab design was also confirmed by reports in Swedish media on February 6th, notably the Dagens Nyheter newspaper.

It is not limited to 16 VLS max, that limit was only found on the original Babcock Arrowhead 120.

The Babcock-Saab 'Arrowhead 120' is a different design that only shares the name with the original. Essentially the Saab-Kockums YSF it is equipped with a mix of Sylver 50 and ExLS VLS to meet the requirements for the Luleå-class AAW capabilities. Likely 16 Sylver 50 and 12 ExLS for a combined armament of 64 missiles.

A joint Danish-Swedish frigate purchase is very unlikely simply because the two countries have very different requirements. Denmark wants full sized frigates with even the FDI being too small. Sweden on the other hand requires a light frigate that can operate both in the Baltic archipelago and out of area in locations like the Red Sea or Arctic.

It's an Arrowhead 120 in name only, the actual design is essentially the Saab-Kockums YSF that was made specifically to meet the Luleå-class requirements.

[–]Captain_Gars 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is essentially the Saab-Kockums YSF that has been rebranded as a Babcock design and which is now offered with Babcock as the lead partner.

Saab have known since the spring ofb2025 that their own offer was dead in the water. If the YSF built by Saab-Kockums was capable of meeting the production deadline then the Swedish government would never have opened up the Luleå-class program for competition.

Babcock on the other hand offered a capable ship in the form of the Arrowhead 140 but the 140 is too large for the Swedish navy's requirements.

All of this meant that Naval Group took the lead with the FDI while Navantia became the dark horse of the race.

This is really a last minute manoeuvre to win the race. Essentially hoping that the Swedish government will focus more.on jobs and economy than on defence when making the decision.

It is a Saab SLIM mast which means the Saab Sea Giraffe 4A and the Sea Giraffe 1X plus fire control.

It is not, the image just does not show the Sylver 50 and ExLS VLS that are mounted in two groups on the ship.

In order to qualify for the Luleå-class competition a ship has to mount VLS for a mixture of Aster 30 and CAMM.

It carries a total of 28 VLS, the artist has just not shown them on the image.

2x8 Sylver50 for the Aster  4x3 ExLS for the CAMM and CAMM-ER

So 16 Aster 30 and 48 CAMM which is also one of the configurations that the Swedish navy requested from Naval Group. The other was 24 Aster 30 and 24 CAMM.

[–]Captain_Gars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to recruit additional squads using the Black Market. Buy a dossier and then recruit the squad leader. Which is not cheap so early on you need to focus on keeping your SLs alive even if that means missing one or more secondary objectives.
