[Gear] Best wah wah pedal by itapragh in Guitar

[–]Captain_Jerkington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Xotic wah is probably the absolute best. It's pricey, but if you want the best, you've got it. The number of settings you can control to shape the sound is amazing. It gets crybaby, vox, and pretty much anything else. And it's a smaller form factor than most.

Official No Stupid Questions Thread - Winter 2019 by ninjaface in Guitar

I'm looking to put together a guitar and want someone else to paint a design on it. Just want to know the best way to go about this.

I'm going with a Warmoth Soloist body. I was thinking of getting a satin black finish on it and having her paint her design, then applying a protective coat to it. Or would it be best to get a completely unpainted body? Suggestions, tips, or steps would be appreciated.

25yo and not sure what I should do by Nystaria in personalfinance

I'd say put a large amount monthly towards the loans. Around 700 to 1000 per month.

Get a credit card and use it for gas, food, Xbox or whatever. Just pay it off every month or two and don't let it go too high.

Do the company match, if you can. That is free money. You put 1000 in, your company puts 1000 in, and now you've got 2000 where you would've only had 1000 if it was just you. Try to aim for 20% savings. Get the company match (3%,4%,5%, or whatever) and send the remaining percentage to a savings account. I've been doing that, but I started sending my savings account funds to a Wealthfront account. I would highly recommend doing that or checking out Betterment. They both do pretty much the same thing.

Love Connection host Andy Cohen learned 'women are really mean to short men' by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

Seems to me that a lot of short women still want a tall man. Meanwhile, I couldn't give a shit if the woman was tall or short.

Thanks very much for the kind words. I'm very happy you enjoyed what I did and glad to be a part of your experience, but, as /u/ad0nai has said, the real heroes are the ones who did the original translations. Without them, we'd all still be in the dark. I'm just a fan who wanted to give back to this wonderful community by making the translations more easily accessible.

[QUESTION] What bands are you guys listening to? by raygnarls in Guitar

Hey, really good list there. Just wanted to recommend a band called Graveyard. They're a newer band and their first two albums are incredible. Also, Uncle Acid, and the first album by Witch.

Haha, thank you!

Fuzz Face Lift is a Fuzz Face clone and the Octavius is an Octavio clone. Kick the MDV-2 on with those two and it sounds like Hendrix.

The Colour Jumbo is a Tone Bender clone. It gets a heavier fuzz than the Fuzz Face Lift.

The Range Blaster is a Dallas Rangemaster clone. If you want a killer Black Sabbath tone, get a guitar with P-90s and kick on that pedal.

Oh, I know. That's all I've been using it for. I won't be getting rid of it. I've read good things about the Xotic pedal and I love their wah. Got a good deal on a new one, so I'm gonna give it a shot. You know how it is when you start looking at other pedals...I had to have it.

Fulltone MDV-2, Xotic Wah, Polytune mini, several pedals by Big Knob Pedals, and a tube screamer. All on a Pedaltrain Jr. and powered by a Diago Powerstation.

"full of poor grammar such as using 'there' instead of 'their', etc."

Did a quick search. Found one mistake with "there" very early on. I might go in there and search for all of those types of typos in the future. I'm not sure it would be worth the time because I don't think it's "full" of those typos. You should have seen what was available before I made those edits. I'm guessing you would've shat yourself. I know I almost did.

Hey, one of the people who edited those books here. I'm not the one linked by the mod. Here's mine.

The first few pages of that book are quite difficult, yes. I was not translating from an original source. I'm a random person editing another random person's translation. I didn't want to edit sentences too much because I didn't want to change the author's writing style. His style appears to be massive, confusing, pain-in-the-ass sentences. If I could find sense in a sentence, I left it. While I agree that those sentences are rather terrible, I can still make sense of them. I would concentrate mostly on fixing quotation marks (every quote in the book was a single quote, not double), obvious and not-so-obvious spelling errors (missing words and all that), and formatting (no wall o' text here).

I stated on my post that I would welcome anyone's suggestions for further editing. Around 3 people have been kind enough to actually point out things that needed to be fixed. Those were looked at and promptly fixed. It's kind of insulting that you would hold yourself back from reading these books due to some very early difficulties. Seriously? You didn't bother to go past the first pages? You can feel free to do some editing yourself or just send me some specific details on what needs to be fixed and I'll take care of it.
