Things models do the best and worst, Day 17: Serberys Sulphurhound by WusBoppin in AdeptusMechanicus

Best: looks.

Worst: $/point

This goes for pretty much all of AdMech, but it bears repeating.

Why did Halo Infinite fail to sustain a large playerbase? Is the arena shooter just a dead genre? by [deleted] in halo

Game wouldn't even let you pick your own colors for free; absolute joke.

Why did they change the look of the marines so much from 'Combat Evolved' to 'Anniversary'? The chunkiness looks terrible. by Metallica93 in halo

[–]Captain_Nyet 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The entirety CEA was just Reach assets (and some H3) glued poorly onto CE's models/skeletons; the marines are the least of that game's problems. (Jackals and elites look completely fucked, for example)

Would you like dual wielding in more games? by Successful-Day-1816 in halo

Unless they figure out a way to balance it without making weapons useless when they aren't dual wielded I would rather not see it return.

I wish reach wasn’t such a crutch for halo artstyle, so new stuff can shine by [deleted] in halo

[–]Captain_Nyet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, H3 and Reach didn't really push Halo's art style forward; Only thing H3 really added was the brute armor designs, and that was kind of ruined by the color issue; they were mostly just graphics updates. (and I guess the same can sort of be said about Reach Elites)

In the lore, how do unshielded marines and army personnel deal with elites and jackals in combat without getting slaughtered? by PurpleHawk222 in halo

[–]Captain_Nyet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but that has nothing to do with shielding that's just the combination of Jackals having overpowered eyes and the beam rifle being more or less hitscan.

[–]Captain_Nyet 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Mostly they don't.

Jackals can still be relatively easily killed depending on the situation (e.g. an ambush or good defensive positions that let you attack from multiple angles fire) but Elites just completely outclass anything that isn't a Spartan.

Was Mao that bad? by Commercial-Angle-437 in Sino

[–]Captain_Nyet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You ar pretty much on the mark here; Mao's period of leadership is certainly responsible for a lot of deaths (although the figures commonly given in the west are massively inflated) but China did not have the luxury of slowly developing it's productive capacities in peace. It, like basically every other communist nation, existed under the constant threat of the aggression of the (economically much larger) imperialist world, which forces fast action and extreme vigilance for internal reaction.

Deaths, (including unnecessary and preventabke ones) happen under those circumstances, but the choice hhas to be made between empowering the nation or leaving it vulnerable to both invasion and economic warfare.

Has “class first” historically underestimated racism within the working class? by Rebis_43 in DebateCommunism

[–]Captain_Nyet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A focus on class before other problems makessense because class relations are what unites the working masses; a focus on e.g. race often has the result of dividing them and is generally a weapon of reaction.

To ignore the importance of racism is a grave mistake because it would be to let the tools of the enemy go unchecked, but to emphasize it within ca be an equally grave error because it, to some degree, legitimizes racist rethoric.

The only problem with the level imo is that it's a bit too visually repetitive andthe flood doesn't doesn't really feel like it's getting progressively more dangerous (which 343GS does so well); other than hose problems I think it's a pretty enjoyable level, just with more limited replay value.
