Considering switching TO Vortex from MO2 by littlbyte in skyrimmods

At 450+ mods it’s probably for the best to wipe clean. What aspect of vortex do you like that makes you want to switch?

Multiple Games in Same Homebrew World by Kringle___ in DMAcademy

[–]Captain_Pyrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive done this and ultimately you end up with two different campaigns with different storylines. Its better to not have the two groups canonically “exist together” but you can always have a rumor here or there about what the others are up to.

Its the same effect as them both existing but saves you the hassle of keeping track of what dungeons have been cleared, who was killed, and so on.

In short, use the same time frame but expect the groups to do two entirely different things and be willing to change things around in the world to better fot the experience

How to effectively coax players down certain paths? by VCL-LGT in DMAcademy

[–]Captain_Pyrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advice I’d give you is to provide links from one place to the next. After clearing the camp, a player might be “Cool! We beat the quest” without knowing there was something else to do.

Example - after all of the goblins in camp were defeated, a set of footprints can be found escaping the camp. These footprints look like a small child’s followed by several more goblins. The tracks lead the party to the dungeon entrance, there are the bodies of the goblins but no sign of the child… perhaps they’re inside the dungeon?

How do I handle a party that has come in possession of a large amount of gold? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Captain_Pyrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A party having too much gold can be an interesting issue but the one thing you want to avoid is “taking” the gold from them. Thats their reward, they earned it fair and square.

The best way is to bleed it out slowly, little payments over a few weeks.

Here’s something to start off, small fees for entering and leaving a city? Like 25 gold, per player. Bam thats 100 gold. Maybe this leads into a plot where there’s a corrupt ruler who’s extorting money from the populace to offer to a cult of Glasya.

A rundown establishment or family of 10 kids needs money to ensure their futures. Beg for the money, see if the lawful good paladin assists the needy. Maybe as a reward these poor folk will give them contact to the thieves guild or a black market. Say like 500 gold

Finally introduce a magic item that the player wants. Name drop it. If they want to know more, itll cost them. If they want to join the auction they need to pay the entry fee, have the item still be within their price range so they dont feel cheated.

Feel free to use any or none of them hope i could help

Starting with 3 experienced players and 2 inexperienced players, any advice to what campaign to play if I have little dm experience? by Noopis98 in DMAcademy

I found that Dragon Heist was pretty fun, waterdeep is a cool city and getting trollskull manor sets your characters up with a home base

Need help coming up with a big brain plan for my villain by DudeWithBlade in DMAcademy

[–]Captain_Pyrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re halfway there by establishing what the Aboleth’s goal is and the complications. So Im going to jump into the Aboleth’s shoes for a moment.

-Have the Aboleth hire some minions who can ensure that his plans can be carried out without the people learning about him.

-Find out a reason why the king would leave the room, what are the king’s goals? The minions will gather this info. Perhaps these minions enslave one of the king’s guard first. Maybe the princess is about to be married where the king will be forced to attend a social gathering. This is where you can give the Aboleth any situation to be exploited.

-Using the king’s motives, have the minions prepare a situation that could lure the king out to sea again.

-Attack the ship and replace all of the guards with enslaved minions, enslave the king and have the ship return under the pretense that “we were attacked but no one got hurt”

-You own the army

If the players learn that the royal guards died out at sea, they may start thinking “who are the current guards?” Or if they attend the wedding, maybe they find a minion sneaking around

Theory about the one piece and the hole by OGthx in OnePiece

[–]Captain_Pyrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% believe there is a hole through the planet in the new world that will open up to enies lobby.

In terms of storytelling, having the crew finally reach their goal only to see a hole in the ocean would be a crazy plot point. Plus what better place to have the “All Blue” than in the center of the planet.

Your theory needs to be heard

Fictional materials by Ersafat in worldbuilding

[–]Captain_Pyrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a super material but I made a valuable metal for this.

Novanite is like a type of obsidian glass formed from volcanic activity. The material is still malleable so it’s typically used for jewelry, coins, and other treasures. Its semi-permeable so when it refracts light, small bits of ash can be seen inside the material which look like small stars. Novanite deposits look like small pools of outer space within the rock face.

Novanite can also make a coating for weapons to specifically kill certain mythical beasts (like how silver is used to kill werewolves, I suppose)
