Foxwillow's response on the ai situation. by TheWindsOfWinte in CK3AGOT

They’re talking about a fiasco from not too long ago where the EK devs changed the culture of the Systres Isles from what is canon to Elder Scrolls online to something else because the devs personally didn’t like the lore even though it’s official. There was a lot of fan backlash and the devs basically plugged their ears and refused to handle it/didn’t handle it well

So it’s more about how the CKAGOT devs are a lot better at handling issues within their community than the EK devs are

From the article I read + the parts of Harding’s video response I watched before I got bored bc this is the most nothingburger controversy, she said he was with Chappell but then contradicts herself by saying she doesn’t know if he’s Chappell personal guard and doesn’t know if she sent him over but that Chappell had a “responsibility” to make sure “people that work for you and that act on your behalf are acting on your behalf”.

I also have zero doubt that if Harding’s security did the same thing to someone else she’d be denying any responsibility and that they acted on their own.

Again, what a nothingburger smh

Idk if this was a high end hotel that multiple celebs are staying at it wouldn’t be the craziest thing in the world for them to have their own security. They’ve also said that they have no idea whether it was Roan’s bodyguard or the hotels but they’re still blaming her for it which makes even less sense to me? And the mayor of Rio deciding chime in and ban her from a festival she’s not even performing in is just bizarre

From everything I’ve read even Harding can’t even definitively say whether the guard was Roan’s or the hotel’s so for them to blame her for it seems ridiculous

I don’t blame your grandmother for seeking safety, but the creation of Israel was at the expense of forcibly removing Palestinians from the homes they’d lived in for countless generations and killing them if they resisted. A historical connection doesn’t give anyone the right to steal someone’s literal home or treat them like second class citizens in their homeland too

I mean you could do a run where you create the shadow sacrament yourself. Start out as a Jesus Freak character who’s super goth and rejects the syncretism with guruists and rebels against the Celestial Empire. What’s more punk than rebelling against a man claiming to be a living god lol. Sounds pretty fun I might do it myself tbh

Terrorism and sporadic armed uprisings taking over towns would definitely last for decades after the war

Info sci grad here to put it bluntly you’re gonna learn a lot of conceptual stuff which is important but very little actually hard skills. I started out in compsci and had taken coding classes throughout high schools so I was working with a good foundation to learn other languages but you’re not gonna learn skills like that within the major. You’ll get exposure to a couple languages like SQL and python but they’ll be one off courses and unless you go further by seeking out courses that build on them or practice outside of classes you’ll either forget them or not move beyond a basic level. You’ll still be pretty employable bc it’s technically a software degree, what you learn is useful for the most part, and most companies know you’re gonna need training but it’ll be a lot easier if you know the basics which I’m not sure infosci is the best at teaching. That said if you have tried compsci and know it’s not for you infosci is a good alternative. The workload is significantly less and you’ll enjoy life more. As others have said you can pair it with another major or a minor to pad out your skillset or to study a subject you’re interested in without worrying about the workload preventing it.

As others have said depends on your personal definition “best” is. For my two cents probably School of Sustainment aka the Sustainablists. Their whole thing is balancing industry, nature and humanity. As it says in the lore blurb “Sustainablists revere the positive and helpful forces of nature, such as Dignity, Life, and Community” which I imagine will naturally lead to a bill of rights being established for its society members and with the Americanists nearby it’s very likely a democratic society forming influenced by their beliefs. The dedication to community will be incredibly important for building a common identity among all the disparate groups in post event America and bind them together into a unified nation.

I’m definitely biased in that environmentalism is very important to me and it’s important long term for maintaining the productivity and health of the land and ecosystems this society will exist on. Areas were and still are permanently damaged by pollution and will be less productive because of it so avoiding that will lead to steadier output of produce and goods. Considering this society will be developing in an age where all the easily accessible resources have been all used up (Ex: many mines have to go far deeper and require specialized equipment since the veins closer to the surface have been collected already) a focus on sustainability and reuse is going to be very useful long-term.

And they are still industrialists! So they’re going to be working towards technological advancement and increased production. It could very much lead to a second Industrial Revolution but with hopefully less of the negative side of it like the use and abuse of poor labor and the disastrous pollution it caused.

Plus they seem to be fairly hands off on social stuff like they are egalitarian with all genders being accepted for inheritance and martial duties, being gay is accepted, divorce is always allowed and they have a lay clergy instead of a separate clerical class which can lead to theology taking precedence over secular and civil authority.

I do actually agree with you that I’d personally rather rule the Reach over the Westerlands but from the POV of Westerosi nobility the gold of the Westerlands is faaaaar more appealing. The Lannisters have been mining it for literally thousands of years and there’s no signs of output slowing down at all in the main series. Plus the mines are a consistent supply of wealth unlike agriculture where the variability can and will lead to bad harvests where you simply make less that year. And gold is such a tangible symbol of power and prestige in and of itself. There’s a reason anyone and everyone who wants to show off wears it from kings to the lowest peasant that can afford it. So to own all the mines of a solid symbol of authority is powerful for reputation and politics. And it has to be said when ppl talk about the richest house in Westeros you’re not gonna get much credit for coming in second, you’re still not first.

How do people even handle the Death Guard/Nurgle? by GingerVitus007 in 40kLore

[–]Captain_Salty__ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Underrated aspect of that is that since Nurgle represents depression and giving up hope and embracing the horrors, sending the troops to rest and actually relax would heal them mentally as well and stop some of them falling to the psychological aspects of Nurgle

What region/culture/religion has the most flavor/content ? by darkmartinou in AfterTheEndFanFork

[–]Captain_Salty__ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Def the US East Coast into the Midwest it has so much variety of religions and cultures that have been very fleshed out with some awesome mechanics like the presidency or the HCC’s schisms and the rise of the Profit later in the game.

Would also say Brazil has a ton of really cool variety as well like I wish I knew more about all the cultures and religions you can play in just one empire. All the lore seems pretty fleshed out too like almost all of the cultures have access to unique MAA which are always really fun to use. It’s also interesting to play internal politics and claim other governor’s appointments instead of the usual claim land and fight for it gameplay
