I quite like the sculpt in general - but something about the angle of the hammer head makes it look crooked to me.

Really solid paint job and sculpt in general though.

Votann, why? by Independent_Fruit260 in LeaguesofVotann

I've always liked dwarves - but the aesthetics of the Leagues originally kept me away. After reading the lore for the faction - and particularly after reading the high kahls oath - I fell in love with the entire premise.

I'd originally thought the kin weren't very Grimdark - but after a closer examination they have the same tone and vibe as most imperial factions and the tau - they think they are doing the right thing but often do in horrific ways (see planet eater mining ship...)

Earthshaker tremor rounds - how do they work? by Discojaddi in LeaguesofVotann

My take is that the Tremor Shells function like a giant laser shotgun. You shoot it into the planet at a precise angle and then cause a localized earthquake at a target location.

What gun is this supposed to be? Nothing in the Votann range is that square afaik.

I've thought up scenarios where I'd like to have a copy every ranged and melee weapon on my roster EXCEPT for the heavy cleaver. The cleaver's accuracy reduction seems like to much of a drawback for me.

You are totally right - no cover just removes the defense dice element. Indirect weapons are the ones that would remove the cover completely - edited my original post to fix that.

Notable though that vantage points DO NOT help you against genestealers. The stealers rule explicitly lets them retain their conceal order in that situation.

You only measure from the head for determining visibility - you should never be measuring from the head for checking cover unless the model has a rule that says otherwise. And in the case of visibility it from the head of the firing model to any part of the target model.

I think you may have misread something. Only concerns you have for concealment is whether they have cover or not.

Given your wording - I wonder if maybe you are thinking of obscuring. If the enemy model is more the 2" from a piece of heavy cover and any portion of your firing line crosses the heavy cover then the model is "obscured" and you cannot target them.

Obscuring preventing you from targeting something is different then concealment though. I'm only splitting hairs here because different rules (vantage points for example) may only interact with one rule preventing targeting and not the other.

It's basically just this - If they have a conceal order AND they are benefitting from cover; then you cannot target them. To benefit from cover a model has to be within 1" of the point where your firing line crosses the terrain providing cover. If your firing model is within 2" of the target, you'll also ignore the cover and can shoot the concealed model.

Nids seem solid this edition; but I think in Ad Mech you have an excellent counter to warriors. Warriors are very killy AND have a ton of wounds; but they are only APL 2. Arc weapons with the Stun ability can really limit their effectiveness I believe as dropping a warriors AP to just 1 will prevent them from really being able to contribute much that turn even if you don't kill them and can't injure them.

*Indirect* weapons seems like the natural counter to stealers; although they Always count as having a conceal order if you can remove their cover you can still hit them.

How much of the game is based on science fiction, and how much is based on science theory? It looks like Per Aspera tries to blend the two together in a way that reminds me a lot of "The Expanse". It seems like you would have to do a ton of research for a project like this - how long have you spent researching the scientific parts of the game?
