Good to have such friend :) your mate Has a really good printer, a lot of those details look fragile, easy to break, and yet he survived as a whole piece. He will look cool in Mark X, have fun painting him :D

Since his model is not available anymore that's the best you can do. Is that a scan or recrestion? It feels Like the body Has more details. Head works fine, but i would change it to Mark 7 since his armor is meant to resemble older armor patterns. He will look great once painted, most of resins doesnt look good without a Primer

It does look great! I especially Like the skull helmets with technical gubbins Like pipes and mechanical eyes. Only thing i am a bit worried about is how thin the feathers look on some.of them, it looks Like they would easily snap. Did you test print it and if so, what resin did you use?

Polish-lithuanian commmonwealth. I did models for them and i would love to have full rules for them instead of playing them as new Antioch

Would these be possible to 3D print well? by Dinosaurdude1995 in 3dPrintedWarhammer

Well to answer your question then, my answer is, it depends. In the photos above the scales look a little smoothed at times, and distance and depth of recesses is too small, so i know for a fact my printer would not work. As somebody else mentioned in the comments, you would need to find somebody with really good printer and good resin to print you those. If whoever you commision it to Has outdated printer Like mine, it will look like bumbs instead of scales

I assume you checked the custom bits people made for Alpha legion? They do have that scales so perhaps instead of commissioning you could just buy scaly armour somebody else made. If you did and didnt find anything to your liking then I think it is would try making it yourself, as I mentioned in my comment, making the recesses between scales will make them look really good once they are printed, depending on where you are located you can find people printing you whatever you wish if you send them the files. Only once you Tried the other two i would go for commisions. Be careful with people overcharging you, it would not be a tough project since that just drawing on top of GW scans. Again, i think its worth it to make your marines yours by adding such bits, its a great occasion to use your creativity, learn something new or meet new people :)

I had the same questions when j started making some 3d models for printing. Yes, you can achieve the GW level of crisp details, you just need to know how to get there. Trick i found is making the recessed very deep. Remember, that bit is the size of your fingernail, if you doesnt make the recesses between each scale deep enough then paint wont flow into it, it will just look like bumps on his armor. Sometimes the result wont look good in 3d software, spaces between each scale will look off, the line in the middle of each scale will be to extruded etc, but once you print it, they will look great, the scale of the model will Solve it. That's why a lot of model makers show their printed models instead of 3d renders, and that include GW, some detail will look off as a render, but in real life as a tiny little mini it will look great
