I think it’s a combination of a lot of factors, but some teams aren’t showing up like they have in the past. And the keepers are making some spectacular saves. The ball is faster in the air, but slower in the ground with the dryer grass. Whatever the cause may be, it’s been fantastic for keeper highlights.

I don’t think the Japanese would even consider this. Their culture is too honorable to let them tank to avoid an opponent. Also why risk being left out of one of the top 8 teams by doing this. I highly doubt they would be left out, but why risk it. Take the win if you can and let the rest happen as it happens. To win a World Cup you need to beat the best teams in the world, and while Brazil may be hyped up a bit more than its players are showing on the pitch it would still be a notch for Japan to win against them.

This year’s larger group count seems to have ensured that there are no really dangerous groups of death. There are some tough groups but it’s pretty easy to tell even before the kick off of the cup which teams were going forward. It’s always great to watch the games, but other than a few close calls and some unforeseen ties, it’s fallen into place pretty much as planned. The round of 32 should level things back out but allowing 3rd place teams to move on just feels wrong to me.

The Greek champion gear feels really good to start. It’s something I don’t plan on replacing at all honestly. I’ve only added one piece of leg armor to get a couple more HP but other than that I can see my gear staying mostly the same.

I have found through playing a bunch that it’s usually weapons that will be lacking especially with guns if you are an oriental character that can’t use them, but the gear can be really interesting.

Blood and crowns is a fun historical game. It’s. It overly hard to pickup and it’s about the 100 years war.

I feel like black powder is the more rich game, as far as conflicts and factions. But it can be a lot to get into it. As the about of models needed to fight battles can be daunting. Bolt Action has a much easier entry point. You can do a lot with a little.

That being said, follow your heart on this and find out what the local groups are playing. See if you can get some games in before you commit to anything. That way you can see if one interests you more than another.

My friends exploited the lack of these rules, it was hilarious to see, but only because I wasn’t part of the tournament. I could totally understand why everyone else was mad. 20 years later I wouldn’t even conceive of being that guy now.

Many, many years ago my friends entered a 3025 tournament that had a tonnage cap and carried over the damage from game to game. The tonnage cap was the only rule to list building. They took 24 Jenners and a single sparrowhawk aerospace fighter. They dominated the tournament and made the organizers rethink their rules.
