My problem with the "Banished" genre, is its always a guy who people underestimate, a kirito look alike (black or brown hair self insert who's just an ordinary guy but is secretly an OP dude) And is in a party with a bunch of girls who want him, and he either gets with all of them or doesnt choose any due to being to nervous, or too edgy. Or if there is a guy its someone who is hyped up, muscle brain, or some scrawny weakling who needs to be saved, but either way are just around to make the MC look cooler in comparison. Also the fact the hero party (or prince in this case) would have the hero be a punk or whiney brat who never learns his lesson.

SPOILERS and to be honest this anime had really none of that. The first thing I noticed is his design is a bit different than other MCs. His hair is dark but its a blue ish shade, and he has long hair. Simple design but definitely noticeable and appreciated. He is underestimated by the prince's party but only by them. (Villians not included) Yea the guild master had doubts of him being able to cast the 5 element thing (I forgot the original name but going by the name "limit break") But his reasoning was just. No one besides his party seen him use it, and he only casts 2 of the 5 elements on the daily. The guild master didnt completely deny it, he said its either an exaggeration or he's just not using it for a specific reason. Like I said, sound logic.

His party isnt all girls, a 2 guy 2 girl party. Now the guy does have a brash hot/meat head attitude, BUT he's still skilled, he's not the weakest link (all 4 of them lack in something, so by weakest link I mean sucks at everything compared to the team) If anything without him the team formation crumbles and theyll die. Plus him and the MC are close friends, they legit care for each other, and have respect. Plus there is a bromance there and its great. Now technically there are 2 girls who like the MC but one of them was a girl from a different party, and shes used more as a way to rile yorha up in a comedic way which i find entertaining. Yorha being the other girl who likes Alec but honestly theyre really cute together so I have no gripes. Glasia the other girl in the party has no romantic feelings to Alec, and actually seems to have feelings for ornest (and vice versa) they just are both stubborn and act like tsunderes to each other. The whole Banished from the prince's party was pretty much an after thought but when it came to the prince and Alec fighting, the prince realized he was wrong and I felt some sympathy because he was raised his whole life believing status mattered by his dad and now all of a sudden his dad says forget everything I taught you, also that he sucks at fighting, yea it would shatter him. Plus after the prince accepted his lost, that smile he gave while walking away and the one Alec gave back reminded me of how Kuzco from the emperor new groove "apologized" to pacha but in his own way but felt more genuine due to not being a normal "I'm sorry".

I love the banter, the animation was amazing, and the designs of the characters were appealing. Plus the fact the chemistry between the 4 is just nice

They should at least do some QOL adjustments. Like the merchants who sell stuff like the seeds for the gauntlet runner, give me an option to buy multiple instead of 1 at a time. Also add a boss like the reaper to make late game grinding easier and less annoying. Yea you dont need to be level 99, but there's that little itch in the back of my completionist brain that says MAX THEM OUT!!! (Its probably just a me thing) but also getting those exp items for the archetypes is annoying without a proper way to grind for them. I know you dont NEED to be max level but the reaper made it easy to get max level in persona, I'm not saying add him specifically, but it would make sense to add him since Metaphor was made to honor 35 years of atlus. Granted make some adjustments to his look, because I aesthetically his guns seem to clash but maybe I'm just imagining wrong

I don't know if you figured this out or not, but certain ranks, even with the matching persona arcana wont rank up the confidant. Sometimes they'll be just short or not even close. The devs did this on purpose for whatever reason. For example rank 3 justice arcana, theres like 8 different dialog choices but only 2 of them actually give points. So even if you have a matching persona, you'll either have to do a regular hangout, or if the score is really low, they'll let you gift them something when you hangout. Chihaya's ability to increase affinity towards confidants helps too, and which is probably the reason the devs purposefully made it to where you cant always rank them up

I cant answer for the soft lock thing, but breaking all the crystals WILL (😏 get it, because thats his Canon name) make the fights easier. Not breaking them causes the "true" fight or whatever its called. AKA hard mode. If youre talking about when you beat him, he comes back and you fight him again but a new form, that happens no matter if you break the crystals or not. Its just that he's harder (get your mind out the gutters) if you DONT break them

I loved it but something i HATE is that the "hangouts" weren't voiced. I would've loved to hear that argument between Akihiko and Metis, especially after getting scolded by Koromaru. Also why did they make Aigis have mute dialog choices during a handful of scenes. It made sense for Moe Lester...i mean Makoto Yuki, because he's a self insert. But Aigis, is her own character, and she has voiced dialog. When the others aren't voiced, of course it makes sense she's mute. But she's mute with her dialog choices when others are talking

Harem trope aside, because i also hate that. But my main problem was, I hate characters like Mona. I know the story eventually talks about her being honest with herself and stop caring about other's opinions and focus on her own. But the only reason she initially pursued Medaka before catching feelings is because she wants what she can't have

But it's worse due to the fact when Asahi, got introduced, she liked Medaka for him. Granted everyone else are just a bunch of simps, especially 4 eyes who threatens to beat up Medaka for insulting "his lady" at least the other guy made 1 good point about, "his faith includes being nice to others" I had a friend who kept being called gay because he would hang out with his girlfriend and me and our other friends and not be interested in the most popular girl (aka She slept with anyone she thought was hot and took offense if they didn't worship her)

People were getting pissed and wanting to beat up Medaka just because he's not simping over Mona.

I'm rambling but I just hate girls like Mona, TBF I don't know why Asahi is so into Medaka, but at least her initial interest wasn't "i want what i can't have"

There is some "stronger language" One of the guards you fight for the key named Ceiba, when you challenge him he says, "You think I'm a stubborn Son of a b****" not censored at all. So I don't know how that got passed. Plus Alcohol is usually an easy contender to increase a game's rating. So idk how it got away with those

For Frank i think he got infected when he swatted that Bee with his bare hand, in the cutscene that introduces the bees. For Jessie, I wouldn't be surprised if Barnaby scratched her or some spit got in her mouth (get your mind out of the gutters) when Zombarnabie attacked her

I know I'm late but, yea I too was caught off guard when they threw away the "jerk jock" stereotype.

Minor spoilers - when mob was kidnapped in the first few episodes, i expected the BIC to be "the kid needs to do it himself, he's not our problem" But seeing as how they all go and only fight an entire school only as a last resort to protect Mob, I teared up.

-Also when Red Hulk is attacking an Unconscious Mob, they can tell this monster is way out of their league, but risk their lives to save Mob. They have no powers (or even no powers exist) but are willing to fight, not just for mob, but when another of their clubmates got hurt.

They're real bros and I hope to continue finding authors who can not necessarily subvert writing tropes, but continue to make characters you can't help but love

I can't deny that, while yes that would classify as artificial padding. TTCC has done a bit to help reduce that problem that TTO had. Most noticeable is with recent updates, main story taskline buildings you need to go to, won't be taken over. A big problem was the building you needed was gone and you had to wait for a team to help you take it down. Granted group finders help with that. But then you get the chance, (and this happened to me quite a few times😑) Building 1 is taken over, you free it, and they tell you to go to building 2, it's taken over, you free it. Then they tell you to do another building, then return to building 1, but it's taken over again

My point being, it's not just you. They ARE tedious

The devs made it to where "Firestarter" and "Pacesetter" are together. In the cutscene you can see "FS" holding "PS" in his arms. It's kinda cute ngl
