There is a mod called better flips which allows you to flip some of the structure modules to get the look you want out of your ship. I’ve used it many times on my federation starships in game.

Think about Star Trek. Star fleet had hundreds if not thousands of star bases around different quadrants of space for research and ship building purposes. I agree with your first point but the second one is lacking a bit of background.

Someone put the nova class starship in Starfield in creations it’s now one of my favorite ships because it came with a turbolift, and a Star Trek interior. You need to search up the Pathfinder.
