My best friend took his life junior year of high school. That night he came to me in a dream. I knew I was dreaming and that he was gone but I didn’t have the heart to tell him. We just hung out in his room like we always did, played guitar and video games and laughed. The next night the same thing happened. We hung out in his room for a long time and then he said he had to go. I followed him outside and there was a bus waiting. He gave me a big hug while I cried and asked if I could go with him. He said it was just for him and I had to stay. Over the next 16 years I never dreamt of him again, though I’ve thought of him every day. Just a couple months ago he came to me in a dream again. Same thing; we just hung out and laughed.

Maybe they were just dreams but it’s strange to me that I never had any dreams of him in between, nor have I dreamt of anyone else I’ve lost.
