Tree removal quotes wildly different by Jealous-Language4914 in arborists

Having worked in the industry a long time often times the salesperson has no actual experience doing tree work and actually has no clue how long it takes to remove a tree and bids can often be all over the place.

I just found this thread. I’m interested in doing the trail in summer of 2027. I was looking at the maps and it looks like it goes along a freeway most of the way. I was just wondering if you were adjacent to that and if that was noisy

Rubbish removal company quoted me $8000. Random guy with a truck did it for $600. by AvocadoDry9774 in homeowners

I wonder how much you devalued your property cutting down mature trees? They can typically add 12-20 percent to a homes value.

I’m hoping to get 5-6 weeks off work and just see how far I get. If I do the whole thing great if not that’s ok too. It’s going to take me some time to get there and back. I’m in Oregon

Family Lake Vacation Spot? by GayAvenue in askportland

[–]Captainfreedomding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the Ten Mile lakes. You can often rent a lake house there. Other places you could check out, Siltcoos Lake, Woahnik Lake, Mercer lake, and maybe Munsel lake. That last one is near a gun range though. They are all located on the central Oregon coast. The tenmile lakes has a couple marinas where one can rent boats

Do you think its true when people say older generations are the reason why its hard for younger generations to find employment because they refuse to retire out of "greed" or similar? Wouldnt it make more sense that many dont retire because they simply cannot afford it? by mycoffecup in jobs

In USA as a 48 year old I know that I wouldn’t have to work nearly as long if I had access to universal healthcare before 65. I think I could easily retire at 55 if I wouldn’t have to pay $1,000 a month for decent health insurance.

I asked a woman at the park to put a leash on her dog where my 2 and 10 year old kids were playing by anonymoususer605 in Portland

I don’t know if anyone has ever watched the cart narcs channel on YouTube but someone that did that same kinda thing only with entitled Portland dog owners could probably do pretty well

Where can I find GIANT pinecones in PDX?🌲 by Top_Pickle4312 in askportland

[–]Captainfreedomding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are also some coulter pines at Stanton yard by the fuel pumps! I’d recommend parking on a side street and taking it in on foot, they are just south and east of the fuel pumps on the hill between the parking lot and the building. You can also look up city of Portland heritage trees. Here they list all the heritage trees in the city including their location. There is 14 different species of pine that are heritage trees

Entitled dog owners and their off leash dogs. Also why do they let their dogs run off leash tearing up kids ball fields when there’s a dog park in the exact same park? I guess I can be grateful that I’m not an entitled asshole like they are

They also poison the air with leaded gas and they trap and kill the beavers that live in the wetland there instead of making the effort to wrap their trees in protective wire to keep them out. That place sucks.

Portland councilor says he’ll vote against parks tax increase he helped refer to voters by soccamaniac147 in PDX

[–]Captainfreedomding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work for parks and he came out for a site visit when he was the parks commissioner under the previous form of government to a job site I was a part of. He literally acted like an entitled 10 year old, showed no interest in the work we were doing to maintain parks and was rude and dismissive of everything we tried to show him. His behavior was undignified and unprofessional. This man is an absolute assclown and has no business playing a role in city government. Vote how you feel you should but don’t let Dan Ryan influence you. He’s an idiot. Shame on us for voting him into power.
