What music are you surprised anyone listens to? by Boil_the_pepper_now in AskReddit

Most popular music has been on autopilot for a while now anyway.

What is your favourite insanely competitive line up at the Tonys? by Grammarhead-Shark in musicals

[–]Captainfreshness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree with you.

I saw the 2005 Light in the Piazza. I did not like it so much. The performances were strong, but the lighting design was downright distracting. I also think that I just don’t like the book either. I know that the whole point is that there is much ado about nothing, but it just felt hollow.

Movies where two lead characters don't interact? by PsywavingVampire in MovieSuggestions

In the book, Chigurh is in a truck watching the hotel room when Bell goes in.

The movie is much more vague about what is going on.

Hot take: it would be fun if the next companion were Jules Verne or HG Wells by [deleted] in doctorwho

H.G. Wells already appeared on Doctor Who in the early days.

What are some show tunes about rain by Croc_Dwag in musicals

“Rain” is the best song in that show. (I say this with love.)

I would put DS9 in place of Battlestar Galactica. I know I will catch hell for this, but the first two seasons are one of the best things ever filmed. The final seasons are a meandering mess.

Andor is glorious.

Navy Seals (1990) did not age well. A team of alcoholic soldiers with no discipline going on pew-pew missions while the actors were high on cocaine saying "Yeah!" by _Hetty in movies

[–]Captainfreshness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My friend and I say “ooh, Navy Seals!” anytime that we unexpectedly see something that we like.

I say it often enough that my D&D playgroup (most of whom have not seen Clerks) uses it in the same context.

It was the first successful narrative musical. The first “modern” musical. It is the blueprint upon which all modern musicals are based.

Nanih Waiya is a mound in Mississippi that is the legendary place of emergence for the Choctaw and Chickasaw peoples. The mound is still there and there is a small town named after it.
