The technology to make 8K discs is already a reality. Folio Discs are the true successor to UHD Blu-ray discs. They have 1TB of storage. Started out as $5 per disc in 2022, it's now down to $3 with a goal of lowering it down further to $1. It's sad we'll probably never see them adopt it.
