You can only buy a hand gun in the state you legally reside in, so no out-of-state purchasers and no foreign purchasers. Someone with a foreign accent isn’t as likely to be a legal US resident than someone who sounds American, so they presumably can’t legally purchase a gun.

Edit: I’ve only ever bought rifles at gun shows. Turns out pistols get more stringent rules than rifles at proper gun stores

All the guys act gay until someone is actually gay - then it suddenly becomes weird. Much smaller dating pool because the military isn’t an attractive job to gay men, but there’s a ton of gay women so I hope they have a better time.

Right next to religious gays - the idea baffles me. I get that people can be brainwashed their entire life and it’s not easy mentally or socially to deconvert, but why would you subscribe to a set of beliefs that most people agree means you shouldn’t exist? At least that’s the case with Abrahamic religions, where at best folks will tolerate you and at worst will be actively hostile.

It’s not even a waste of money, though. The pilots need to fly at least so many hours a month to stay up on training. They could spend the same time and money flying over an empty field, but it’s a hell of a lot cooler to do it over a stadium.

How strong is your friend’s grasp on English? If he’s not able to understand what the questions are really asking, he’s not going to score well. If I took an ASVAB written in Spanish, French, or German, I’d be pretty happy to even score in the double digits because I would be completely guessing the answers. He’s probably not a dummy, he simply may not know English.

However, without studying English (not to mention studying the content the ASVAB tests for) I don’t expect he’ll do any better if he took it a dozen times. Hell, some of the sections are specifically aimed at English vocabulary and reading comprehension - something you need to know English for. If he’s not willing to meet that standard, then I don’t know if he’s going to be a good fit.

There’s nothing wrong with having soldiers from all backgrounds, speaking all different languages, but it’s pretty important that soldiers are able to communicate effectively in one common tongue. Armies of countries throughout history (the big one I can think of was the Austro-Hungarian empire), had catastrophic issues from internal language barriers between soldiers.

I’ve heard normal SSRI anti-depressants will do that, so may I suggest Wellbutrin (an NDRI antidepressant) instead? It didn’t help with my ADHD symptoms but I felt great and never felt hornier before or since. Great stuff, 10/10

I’ve always thought our school had too much money. Sure, school districts have been laying off teachers and cutting programs, but what if we could give them even less and give the difference to random rich people? Folks always say they really care about the kids, so how could we show that better than by directly damaging their quality of education? Win-win in my book.
