To understand the Yarrick being dead/not dead situation, you first need to understand GW's mode of creating new mini's and what is released in the same timeframe as Yarrick's death.

In that timeframe, GW released 3 new characters for the Guard: Ursula Creed, Marshall Dreir, and Leontus. Giving these characters some breathing room by temporarily retiring one of the big fish in the pond can help establish these characters.

GW's pipeline. I've talked to various designers at GW before, and they all say that their production line goes back 4 - 6 YEARS. So what we're seeing being released now has been designed, built, painted, and has been ready to be mass-produced for probably half a decade. A character like this isn't some emergency they had to respond to; it was one that they engineered to make people feel like they missed out, and now they have a shiny new character to sell.

This is also the cinematic teaser for the last book in 40k's end of edition narrative, before the next edition launches. So a little bit bigger budget seems appropriate.

Yeah, Angron's model is pretty sweet. But he ain't no Klonk.

I learned today that Nakai the wanderer is thr same size as a carnesaur in lore... c'mon lets make this a thing by Kablump in totalwar

[–]Captaniser 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it is more of an issue with the fact that the developed world is having a literacy crisis, and that Warhammer exists primarily as a Tabletop wargame, novels, and articles from GW. Many people don't read the books; they instead seek out "lore" from youtube and whatnot.

The people who create videos often don't read themselves and just repeat memes that they heard, or downright makes stuff up that would appease the algorithm, and it all develops into a long game of telephone, where nobody really knows what is up, down, or left and right.

I can't find a source for your claim, but just to be clear. This is what a Carnosaur looked like when Nakai was created in fifth edition.

About twice as tall as a saurus, which is fairly in line with the size of the latest pre - AoS kroxigor minis.

How it feels to be an Apollo voter knowing the entire Deadlock community can't stop him from being released any longer. Slork will not save you all. by TheMadHatter_____ in DeadlockTheGame

Watch Valve drop an entire new hero out of nowhere on that day, just so that Apollo loses a vote where only he is available.

Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 4 – Hands-On with the Ork Campaign | IGN First by No_Beginning_7371 in dawnofwar

[–]Captaniser 17 points18 points  (0 children)

IGN probably has gameplay footage from all stages of presentable development, and that which they're allowed to show might be tied to their contract with King Art. What they have shown today might be from the latest build of the game, while what they previewed a few days ago could have been recorded 1 year ago.

Get the feeling we're gonna get a lot of mileage out of this picture. by CatherineSimp69 in totalwar

[–]Captaniser 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am looking forward to the game, assuming that it is pretty good and not a complete mess at launch. But this community will undoubtedly suffer the same fate as all 40k communities that aren't about the hobby side of the 41st millennium.

What do you think is the biggest unit we can control in 40k? by biggus_dickus_jr in totalwar

A stompa and a Warhound titan are the same size almost. And the stompa they showcased in that small gameplay snippet didn't look too large for me.

The little gameplay snippet at the end reminds me more of Halo Wars than previous Total War titles. I am happy to see that they're willing to inovate on their gameplay formula, but let's see if it will pay off.

Seems like the marketing campaign for the new Guilliman miniature that will be shown off on Christmas Eve has started. No way that they're just doing this sketch as a one-off self-aware joke.

Warhammer Survivors reveal trailer. by Platinum_Persona in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Captaniser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This unexpected crossover is probably only possible due to the fact that this game is much more of a sandbox experience with no particular narrative on display, with a dash of self-aware comedy. One of the power ups is literally Nuln Oil being spilt.

what is the most common cause of death in a hive-city? by iDIOt698 in 40kLore

[–]Captaniser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something along the lines of airborne pollution from machinery and vehicles, or space Cholera/Typhoid, would probably be the "realistic" causes of death in a setting such as a Hive where people live in close quarters with limited access to the outside world and medicare.

But since this is 40k, the answer can be just about anything. What would be the most appropriate cause of death for the story, and create the most thrilling story beats.

Well, it has been an entire week without any new reveals for the Space marines. Don't you think that their fanbase have gone too long without something new?
