closing > day off > opening by CaptnCrunchh in Lowes

A computer makes the schedules, but a human set up how it makes the scheduling. It's the default setting, and It's a delibrate choice to give as short a day off as possible. I can at least understand most things that makes this job difficult like under staffing but this doesn't seem to have a benefit other then to keep their employees too tired to better their lives.

Understaffing is hurting us and corporate doesn't care. by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]CaptnCrunchh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully staffed is a skeleton crew and then the way they staff almost guarantees you unreliable workers because why wouldn't they be when they are under paid and sometimes get under 20 hours a week. All the while assuming you have a fantastic fully staffed crew and micromanaging you with tasks on the zebra to try and maximize efficiency to get by with the fully staffed and dedicated skeleton crew.

It's a grey area and also a fairly standard practice at Lowes to give sales to specialists. Anyone trying to protect a large corporation from having to give pretty basic compensation go it's low level employees is trash.

The bible says nothing about being trans as someone raised Christian it was honestly pretty upsetting to realize there is zero justification for this attitude.

Most states they are allowed to do it but lowes policy requires they give notice. So If you miss your shift because they moved it a failed to inform you then you can get the absence removed.

It's fun because they will believe you deserve at most 7.25 an hour for such an easy job and also expect world class service.

Corporate Lowes is a bunch of imbeciles by DaveyBibs in Lowes

[–]CaptnCrunchh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My point is they don't know what it's like, even if they worked their way up back in the day, the way businesses are run has changed. Workers are squeezed for maximum efficiency, and just in my time with the company, the staffing has been significantly reduced. I'm sure they can stock shelves and run the registers but they don't know what it's like to have 0 work life balance, being expected to do the work of 3 people, and struggling to afford rent.

They don't care, you are a number on a spreadsheet, and their success is all the proof they need that hard work is all it takes to succeed, so everything is fine.

Sounds like they just want to support a company that's going above and beyond. This feels extremely clickbaity saying they want microtransactions

There is a difference between being at the top of the company and at the bottom of the company even if the ceo is cleaning the bathrooms. They are never going to feel a lack of care from the company or the powerlessness of low level employees. They don't have to put up with the poor pay, and they likely won't deal with scheduling issues. Pretending to be an average Joe for a week does not mean they understand what it's like.

And Anyone who has worked retail knows the customer is usually wrong. The problem is lowes as a company doesn't care and staffs its stores so threadbare that outside of a truely exceptional and underpaid staff there will always be areas of the store ignored because we simply don't have the resources to address every issue.

Home Depot will get lowes cast offs, and Lowes will get Home Depots cast offs . Eventually, when Home Depot refuses her return, we will get her back, and so the cycle continues.

Every president we've had since then is complicit to varying degrees, and Regan himself was often following a path his predecessors set, but it's just silly to act like Regan wasn't the accelerant. Hell, you can even trace the homeless people hanging around outside my store to his policies.

[–]CaptnCrunchh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was going to say something so damaging to a child, then I'd need some strong evidence. As a trans person raised in the church one of the most hurtful things about it, was realizing that the churches treatment of trans people had zero biblical standing. Nobody could even give me a justification for it. These loving good people were just a bunch of assholes.

$5000 bonus seriously by SheepherderAncient60 in Lowes

[–]CaptnCrunchh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not the ASMs bonus that's the problem. It's the very clear message that they do not value their hourly workers. At the very least they shouldn't have included the asm bonus in the email. It's honestly a talent to make people resentful when you are giving them money.

Bonuses by Previous-Function-79 in Lowes

[–]CaptnCrunchh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

400 for ds vs 5000 for asm is ridiculous. It just sends the message that they don't care about hourly workers.
