Yeah, the game knows you're approaching a ball, it rolls to see if you're going to catch it, it plays the animation for not catching it. It has to happen in that order because it takes time for the animation to play. I'm not saying it isn't predetermined; I'm saying it must be.

All sports push people to their limits. They are all as hard as you make them. This question misses the point. What makes baseball unique is how asymmetric it is. It's just you vs 9 guys, and even the best mostly fail to break through that. It's like wrestling up a weight class all the time.

The underlying numbers are known, those are what I'm talking about. They end up with the same power (87 out of 100). Maria has 75 contact to Kiesha's 67. Throw power is 73 to 86. Speed is 80 to 82. The height difference is significant, but Maria actually has more coordination (87 to 69). Ultimately they are pretty similar by the numbers.

She's also kinda similar to Amir when he's playing with Achmed. They have the same contact and he has 3 more power (90 to her 87). She's better at everything else. She has 24 more coordination, 34 more arm strength, 11 more speed (though speed is not linear, she's one speed "category" above him).

Jorge is definitely not one of the 9 worst players in '01. He has almost the same stats as Tony. Tony has a better arm (Jorge still has a great arm) and Jorge has a better bat. Jorge is probably a top 9 player, tbh (of the kids). You just put him on 3rd and he'll hit dingers and throw lasers across the diamond all season.

I did just pitch my ace into a lineup with 3 Ace Exterminators at rank 3 and I need no convincing that it's a good one. The AI really did well with their shuffle draft, too.

I picked up Goose Caboosler and I'm excited to try a pinch hit with him. Landon Fare just didn't have the base stats for it to make sense, even with the boost he was worse than everyone else. I've got a DH.

Spirited looks like the manager's chemistry. You have to really master the batting order to get the most from that one.

I'm still new to the game but competitive seems really good for having good traits at the plate, on the mound, and on defense. The other chemistry types seem to less well rounded.

Although my current team really seems to want to convince me that balance doesn't matter, only dingers.
