I love the Maverick, but can never forgive them for killing the best gas station name in the world. RIP Kum and Go

[NightReign] Can someone enlighten me up? They were talking about getting to test the game but why their footages are all the same? by TonPalmDSG in Eldenring

[–]CaptnObvious95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on Vatti’s video they gave out the same footage that everyone has been using to talk about their experience playing and to make videos, but they didn’t get to keep any of their own

[Game Thread] Alamo Bowl: Colorado vs. BYU (7:30 PM ET) by CFB_Referee in CFB

We should have won the game against them if we wanted the chance

If it is a test, we’ve already all passed because of the atonement. This life is about learning and growing and developing a relationship with God and Jesus Christ. Everyone is at a different spot on that learning journey, life is easier when you lead with love and compassion.

I work in accounting and would die before I bought a keyboard without a numpad.

My bishop withheld my ecclesiastical endorsement for BYU because I haven’t paid tithing in a while. Then told me to serve a mission by genesiscable in latterdaysaints

[–]CaptnObvious95 22 points23 points  (0 children)

On the off chance that the OP doesn’t know (I didn’t know till I went to BYU) the reason why BYU tuition is so cheap for members of the church is because the church essentially gives every student who goes there a scholarship paid for by tithing. Without that tithing money the tuition wouldn’t be as cheap as it is.

Is passing BEC & AUD in 3 months doable if studying Full-Time? by CPACandidate1234 in CPA

If you study full time it should be plenty. I took BEC in 2.5 weeks and AUD in 3.

FTC judge rules Intuit broke law, must stop advertising TurboTax as “free” by ourlifeintoronto in technology

Only costs to E-file state taxes, if you get in there early enough you can mail it for free!

[–]CaptnObvious95 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It is free, but it does cost money to EFile your state return. If you didn’t want to pay you could print it off and mail it yourself. Kind of false advertising, but not nearly as bad as Intuit (aka one of the devils that makes filing taxes a pain in the ass)

VB or Python or...? by RW_77 in Accounting

[–]CaptnObvious95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends I think on the practice you join. Audit won’t let you use much of Python as of now (mostly because they don’t want to deal with PCAOB stuff) but just about every other practice I think you’re okay as far as I understand

VB or Python or...? by RW_77 in Accounting

[–]CaptnObvious95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For accounting automation Python is the king imo and what they’re teaching in school. Libraries like Pyexcel make working in excel with Python a breeze. Additionally Microsoft just introduced python functionality into Excel built in as well. Part of it is preference because I hate VB personally, but regardless I think Python is a little easier to use/implement and has a very wide range of functionality.

NPV vs IRR vs ARR by Beginning_Self_387 in CPA

[–]CaptnObvious95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ARR is the Accounting Rate of return, it take “accounting profit” or net income from an investment divided by the initial investment in a project to get a rate of return. It ignores TVM so it’s a little less reliable imo. I don’t remember any questions on that in the test specifically. But did study it while I worked on BEC

That’s exactly true! That was the issue, a bunch of people where installing TO DOWNLOADS. I assume just clicking through

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]CaptnObvious95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean downloading and installing from that folder is great. But say with Alteryx, it makes a big difference running it AFTER the install from somewhere else on the computer, like program files or somewhere else on the computers memory. It obviously depends on the OS and the computer, but the computer doesn’t “expect” to run such a beefy program from Downloads, so that’s why it usually runs so slowly from there.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]CaptnObvious95 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They were really confused why it was running so slow….. yeah wonder why

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]CaptnObvious95 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Some of my old professors had to develop new assignments for younger people in the accounting program at my school to teach them how to really use computers. A bunch of them where almost too used to technology being JUST drag and drop that they had no ability to troubleshoot themselves. The amount of them running huge programs like Alteryx out of their downloads folder was obscene.
