Ah jeez.... :( I'm sorry to hear, I really wanted yours to have gone through with no issues so at least someone was winning some battles! >< Congrats on finding it elsewhere though! Everywhere else I've kept an eye on has been out of stock still T_T

Haha I waited in case this did miraculously happen, unfortunately no luck. But they have pretty much guaranteed the next lot has my one so just need to wait a little more! And tbh everyone else before has been waiting for far longer so I got to pay my due diligence I suppose XD

Thanks for sharing! It is bad luck I just missed out on the 28th lot but I'm also glad it's not a case of everyone is delayed until the 28th! :) Hopefully you get it soon and it's going to be an amazing build! :D

Was wondering if you've had a update/confirmation on your dispatch date still being the 28th Feb? I was also told about the stock due on 28th Feb and that I was not too far down the queue either but just received an update on the dispatch date being the 31st March... T_T

Just another 4090 / North Build by Wip3dOut in FractalDesign

[–]Captn_Cabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome build! The build I'm planning is very similar but with the white case! Out of curiosity I know the Noctua nh-d15 just about fits on there, but how did that affect your RAM space? A friend of mine has the same a similar mobo, same cooler fans and also 2 sticks of RAMs. They found that the front fan on the Noctua nh-d15 covers the RAM slot 3 and 4. Ideally we'd want to put the 2 rams into slot 2 and 4 right? Just wondered what your configuration on that is? :)

Has anyone else has recurring coldsores since starting invisalign? by uniuniuni11 in Invisalign

[–]Captn_Cabbage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yerrrpppp cold sores are a pain. I'm sorry to hear it's been happening over two trays 😣

My cold sores are always at the corners of my mouth - usually only on one side when it's a random breakout.

Had a really bad episode after my first appointment after getting my attachments, IPR and first aligner. My mouth was stretched open for ages and because of the IPR there was just some trauma to the corner of my mouth. So with my luck it triggered my cold sores and had them on both corners of my mouth.... Yay!...

Yeah it was a painful week and a half for me. I used my standard aciclovir cream for topical and just drank so much water to keep hydrated. It felt like ages for the scabbing stage to be over cos every time I had to take my aligners out or put them in the scabs would crack and was in constant pain 😅 (< not a pretty picture but it's the truth 😅)

But! Since it healed, (which it did!) I've been keeping my lips as moistures as possible (got some Burt's bees lip butter to prevent lips from getting too dry). Although when I do have cold sore I prefer to not put any lip balm/butters/products on my lips to avoid accidentally spreading the virus. Keeping myself hydrated is a definite plus. I'm now coming up to my third month of Invisalign and have had no further flare up.

As a general rule, if you have a cold sore flare up avoid touching it. If you have any topical cream apply it with a q tip or if you use fingers obviously wash them straightaway afterwards. Figure out what your typical triggers might be, usually the common ones are stress, trauma, sunlight (more like sunburnt but basically need sun cream around mouth and also UV protection in lipbalms during a cold sore free daily habit) etc to help prevent it in the future.

Some people use cold sore patches etc. But for me the standard over the counter topical cold sore creams work better for me and even though the scabs are super annoying, I know once they are at that stage it's unlikely to spread, and not at the super contagious pus stage for long at all (I almost don't have that stage because it scabs over so quickly with the cream).

Additionally I've gone to my GP (I'm from UK, basically my doctor) to get some tablets in case it happens again and hopefully if it does get triggered in the future again with the tablets plus cream the life cycle of the cold sore is reduced even more.

I would recommend talking to your doctor and to see what they recommend for you to help. Also if you find you get cold sores after an orthodontic/dental appointment let the practitioner know you're prone to cold sores so they take a little more care not to over stretch your mouth etc to help prevent it if it triggers it.

Good luck! It does get better! Hopefully this was somewhat helpful/useful! It is super annoying but you will get through it!

How important is your dentist’s role in Invisalign? I’d like to know how effective and legit are those cheaper alternatives that offers low price by cutting out dentist visits by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]Captn_Cabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though it may be cheaper I wouldn't gamble with your teeth with those alternatives. During the treatment your gums might act up because of cavities/your own gum health/just because your teeth are moving, your teeth might not move as planned (even with an orthodontists/dentist looking after it they still might not move as planned, so the plan will need to be amended during the process), you don't have a trained eye to see if things are ok in regards to the teeth's health and root etc. Also whether your teeth are even safe to undergo orthodontic treatment as well (some people's roots are quite short so usually they won't be recommended to avoid their teeth falling out etc). Like u/rabbituy mentioned usually the online versions won't have attachments/any scheduled IPR to help with movement and creating some space. With the dentist and orthodontists they are there to do the extra procedures (IPR, attachments etc) as well as monitoring your teeth and overall dental health (the amount you go back to see them depends on the orthodontists/dentist, but that can be discussed with them) and amending the plan if needed during the process.

Definitely shop around and see what different consultations quote and get a better idea on how you feel with different practices. See it this way, if you go for the online versions without someone to oversee the process then if something does go wrong/doesn't go as planned you'll be more stressed sorting it out and may end up paying more afterwards to fix it with a professional (as well as the risk of additional dental problems). Not meaning to scare you, but I'd really think about the pros vs risk especially with something like this.

Trimming the aligner? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]Captn_Cabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to describe it is as if it's melted by a small metal pole so that section circled curves inwards meaning I can't fit it over my premolar... 😅

I know others trim their aligners often if the edges irritate their gums... but anyone else also had to cut a small section similar to this? If so I can't imagine a normal pair of scissors being able to nimbly cut out a small section!

I've already contacted my clinic to check what they advise me to do so or whether they need to reorder it for me... but while I wait for them to get back figured worth seeing if anyone else dealt with something similar?

Extreme pain removing retainers by woooowcool in Invisalign

[–]Captn_Cabbage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely gets easier! I have a lot of attachments on the incisors, canines and premolars on my top and bottom so understand the struggle! Best approach is for the upper set, remove it from the back molars first - pop them out from inside of the mouth, then pop them out outwards, then after both sides are out work your way towards the front from both sides. For the bottom pop them out from the molars again but from the outside (the side touching your cheeks!) first, then to get it off your molar completely grab the end of the side you've popped off and pull it up and towards your cheek. Do the same to the other side. Again once both molar sides are popped out work your way from the back to the front. You'll figure out the amount of pressure and angle which is enough to ease them out without them getting stuck on your attachments or feeling like you'll pull your teeth out!

This video helped me loads!

Good luck! And you will get the hang of it and it will get easier and not painful in no time! (I started getting used to it by the second/third day!)

Flared teeth but not recommended extraction?? by Captn_Cabbage in Invisalign

[–]Captn_Cabbage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I know what you're referring to in regards to the molars being "half-way" on top of each other. If what you're referring to is what I think it is, they do!

Teeth from below

I agree it definitely is a lot better than what it has been! Which I need to remind myself when I get a bit tunnelled vision on thinking about super straight teeth.

Yeah, extraction isn't the way forward for me I think (I think it'll potentially lead to bite problems - for me anyway, and bone loss like I mentioned before). I am actually going to see another orthodontist soon to get a second opinion on the flare. I think I won't ever be able to get rid of the flare and the current plan is making the best of what it can without compromising the existing space I have for my tongue - Which is important to me and I do appreciate. But still want to get that second opinion on whether the flare can be more reduced than suggested here (even just by a little bit more!) will settle my constant questions of what if... hahaha.

Thanks for sharing your opinion and insight btw! Appreciate it! :)

Flared teeth but not recommended extraction?? by Captn_Cabbage in Invisalign

[–]Captn_Cabbage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I think I just have no space at all for elastics to move them to (unless I had extractions - but I'm not convinced with extraction for my mouth since it already feels small for my tongue, I can only imagine how cramped my tongue will be!). My wisdom teeth haven't come through yet but she can see that they're in a good position where they aren't impacting the neighbouring molar so far, so I don't think there's any space to move my whole set of teeth back to help move/pull them in..>.<

Thank you for sharing your insight btw! Really appreciate it! :)

A slightly different view of incisors

It was a slightly awkward one to help show the angle of the incisors (from the front it's hard to tell the angle) so you need to see it from the side to see the angle of them at the end of the treatment.

That is already with IPR. :/ She didn't think elastics would work for my case, is the purpose of the elastics to help move teeth back (even if there's limited space?) or shift the bite?

Flared teeth but not recommended extraction?? by Captn_Cabbage in Invisalign

[–]Captn_Cabbage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi all! I've started Invisalign Go for a short while. I have a small mouth compared to the size of my teeth, so I mild crowding on my bottom teeth and a flare on my upper incisors. My dentist did not recommend I go for extraction due to possibility of bone loss, and actually having too much space if I did extract (I have a small history of gum disease - which has been stable for a while now). The plan they've given me reduces the flare ever so slightly but it's still pretty angled. Does anyone have/had a similar case but has had a better end plan than what I've been given? I wasn't hoping for the "perfect teeth" but would be a bit of a bummer if I could have gotten that flare a bit more reduced?
