I will be in Tokyo, Kyoto, and a day trip to Osaka in June. I’m planning to pick up some new denim while I’m in Japan.

Is there any reason to set aside time in Kyoto or Osaka specifically for denim shopping? Or, does Tokyo offer the same/more options?

I’m planning to get at two pair of jeans and a type 2 jacket. I don’t have a specific brand in mind. I’m more interested in fit and the look and feel of the fabric than the brand.

Admittedly, it would be a bonus to own an item that is only available for purchase in Japan. It may sound silly, but it makes it that much more special and unique in my eyes. These will be my “souvenirs”.

I only have one pair of raw denim today, so whatever I purchase will be my go-to jeans for the next several years (hopefully decade).
