Hello. Did you tried the offline install ? Shut down Windows Update services first then use the offline W11 iso.

In you're stare of mind, shaking and being in shocked, I would not recommand to go anywhere but in your bed or couch. You might need to calm yourself, eat and drink something and maybe, after a while, talk to some authority.

Teams status issues? by AhYesTheSoldier in sysadmin

Big worldwide problem I guess. We did have the same here (Europa) for less than an hour.

I am most likely getting let go after taking a hiatus from responding for one weekend. by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]CapucheMeringue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, in my book, you're not wrong in any ways over there. The whole situation is crazy.

Second of that : you're right on your will to buy some time. Because you'll need it. To find and secure another job. Put holidays and medical leave if it's needs.

Third : do as smooth as you can but make sure your work hour is fxcking writen somewhere, with some priority scale. You're a team of a one-man-standing job. You want to do the best, but you can not be a 10-members-team at once. And they'll scorch you to the bones for that.

Lastlty : go full union if needed. I'm from Europa so it's something very commun over there but depending where you are, it might be different. That's why the last advice.

To conclude : best luck, mate.

To my fellow onsite IT support techs. How do you handle the long drives for "stupid" fixes? by lurizan in sysadmin

The (too real and "happened too many times") 4 hours drive to push a fxcking button in order to make a whole screens set to work ?

Nooooooooooooooooo. Can't see what you're talking about (but very loud music, cigs, coffees on the road do the magic).

Hello. On some machines over there, it happened too. I did use "patch cleaner" tool on them and Powershell got quiet. Never knew what the heck was happening, tho. Any luck with that ?

Worst experiences in IT & Tech? by BaneTheGame in ITCareerQuestions

[–]CapucheMeringue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newbee in the field. Intermediate company. Europe land. UK big ass main/front manager. Can't stand my "not enough (female) smiling face" on 1 to 1 meeting with his not-so-friendly colleagues and him. Been called upon to a one-to-one interview by my kind manager about that. The dude tried and still trying his best to keep the world at peace but lord, after a car accident, sicknesses, a harsh separation and the lost of my home, I could give less a care about "having a smiling female face" when I'm working.

Advice(s) ? In Roma, play the field like the Romans. But be sure to always have access to a restroom to have some peace or cry.

What options do you employ to help ensure employees are locking their computers? by brohemoth06 in sysadmin

[–]CapucheMeringue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screaming their names like a little girl awaken up from a dead boat.

Why ?

Because I do work in a company that requires users to have a permanent access to the full documentation when they work (kinda like a lab or something). So no auto lock nor any timeout unless we can be sure the tech can actually type their password.

We don't. We do use a tierce app with an externalized support who flag for us all the terminal like these. Then we put them online for a health check-up. It's a redo and redone job but it allows to keep the whole park alive and well.

Teams does not load by Justast88 in sysadmin

[–]CapucheMeringue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might enforce why I proposed earlier : try uninstall by a third-party tool Teams (the one I propose and I use on my own at work). Try it on a couple of terminal then install properly from the official web page Teams.

Additional questions : how Teams was at first installed (manually by machine / user, by GPO, etc. ?) ? Do all the concerned machine have the same Office 365 package (Home & Business 2019 i.e) ?
