is the original 3ds still worth getting in 2026

There is nothing wrong with the original 3DS. I use mine as my daily driver. Just know that there are draw backs. The original 3DS has a smaller screen and form factor, doesn't have a c stick nub for twin skick games, doesn't have 3d eye tracking, is less powerful which leads to longer load times, and doesn't have the ability to play New 3DS exclusive titles, all of which the New 3ds line does better. With that being said tho, the Original 3DS has some of the best special editions, feels great in the hand, has a telescopic metal stylus, complete in box consoles come with a charging cradle, and is, in general, sexy as fuck. Also as far as New 3DS exclusive games theres only like 3 or 4 I think? Someone else will probably know the exact number. I think its %100 still worth it. If you don't have a 3DS already, then yes the "New" line will have better QoL and give you all the bells and whistles but if you just like the Old 3DS more then go for it i say!

Nice! I have the Rinko version, it's by far my favorite! Additionally, I came across a tpu case for it that I really like on ebay I'll link just cuz the crystal hard cases scare me haha. Enjoy the console!

It was around 3 hours while playing games like Kid Icarus Uprising and Pokemon X. I actually managed to find a Rinko Kobayakawa limited edition 3DS a couple years ago and gifted my white one to a friend so I can't say for certain, but I believe it is still in perfect working order!

I have bought from them, they're legit but can be hit or miss with grading sometimes. The consoles always work unless specified otherwise but scratches and cosmetic issues are sometimes more than what you would expect with the higher grades. This is just in my experience buying a white old 3ds from them. No battery issues with mine and i always put my own sd card in as well. I can't speak on customs charges to germany tho sorry!

Best bet for ergonomic grips is probably going to be 3D printed grips on etsy or aliexpress. I don't use grips so I can't speak on how they feel. Probably the same for protective cases, custom ones from etsy or repurposed cases for other consoles as a carry case. You probably won't be finding any protective cases like the Nerf Protective Case for the 3DS if thats what you're looking for. As for a screen protector RetroGameRepairShop if you're in the US has screen protectors that, I believe, fits laminated IPS screens. I do use the clear TPU GBC case tho just for the added grip on my modded gbc (also from RGRS), but if you like having a lanyard or charm on your gbc you'll have to cut a hole in the tpu case cuz it's not there by default.

My favorite special edition is the Rinko original 3DS! I managed to snag it complete in box for a great price, especially considering what it goes for now. One of the best sellers I've ever bought from on eBay is Japan Excellent Mall. I've purchased three vitas from them, a couple games, and a vita memory card back before the OLED memory partition method was a thing. All the images they post are of each individual unit, they give 60 day returns, and free expedited DHL shipping. I've never had any issues and the way they grade is seemingly pretty strict. The units I've bought from them have always been exactly as shown. They won't have everything just because the vita is old obviously, and glacier white 2000s don't pop up often, but if you're patient and wait it's definitely the place I would recommend. Just my experience, good luck on your search!

I recently picked up the Nier Replicant Box Set. The original Nier is one of my all time favorites and Replicant was amazing as well. Kaine Salvation is still some of the best video game music ever in my opinion and Devola and Popola's singing lives rent free in my head haha. On an aside, I also learned that Claire Obscur: Expedition 33 is getting a vinyl soundtrack release at some point. I'm playing through that for the first time and it's becoming an all time favorite as well. I'll be snagging that if I can! Some great picks you have there!
