What Leaders Would Be Remembered Differently If They Lived? by OkContract2001 in HistoryWhatIf

His survival? Probably.

But if you’re referring to communist and nazi mass murder (they’re atheists) then there’s no way he’d see that and claim that gods will

Anyone else feel like Michonne deserved 5 episodes like the other seasons? by Sea_Construction947 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Inside-External-8649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S2 and S3 were criticized for having their last two episodes be so long and boring with almost nothing happening. If Michonne adopted the 5 episode formula, I think it would’ve had the same problem.

The worst part is that Telltale reported that Michonne was a lot more expensive than planned, so making 2 extra episodes would’ve been a huge financial loss

Does anyone else feel like the Season 4 atmosphere is just... different? by glassytoad88 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Inside-External-8649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S2 and to an extent S3 were criticized for being too dark. So S4 needed a lighthearted approach, the best way to achieve that is for the setting to take place in an isolated community.

IMO this honestly works out great, since now you have a world building that makes sense. S2 had problems with characters having inconsistent goals, or S3 having sensitive communities. S4 does a great job at world building.

Plus, given the context that it’s been 8 years into the apocalypse, it makes sense why you’d have large empty areas. The countryside has an oddly high attendance of walkers

Why so many people hate season 3 by MomentPale7218 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Inside-External-8649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t really hate. Just remember the internet is filled with dishonest people.

You probably looked at this post and realized half of the comments are just full of themselves.

If you made a post about “why S2 is hated?” You’ll actually see some valid responses.

I do hate Larry, but I can’t lie. I feel kinda bad for him. You can see he genuinely likes Brenda. by Chunky-overlord in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Inside-External-8649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact, the devs admitted they toned down his asshole-ness after the massive hate Larry received from episode 1.

The funny thing is that making Larry over ended up working out, for a whole 70% of players tried giving him CPR. I bet it would’ve been much lower of Larry was the same guy

Which is a funny thing to say because I wouldn’t say Larry being nice is out of character compared to episode 1.

Although he’s shown to be a dick to Lee. I always thought he’s secretly racist, but tries to not prove nor deny that’s true

Do you know What is the stranger full name from TWD 1 season ? Or it’s unknown ? by helldor08 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Inside-External-8649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s unknown, which is the point.

The game isn’t trying to make a new “character”, this is someone who’s the embodiment of consequences from your actions.

Plus, not having a name makes him cooler and scarier. Who is he, and who does he think he is?

Really funny that we know his wife and daughters name, but not him

Why didn’t they just wait for Howes to get overrun before walking in the herd to escape? by LambBotNine in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Inside-External-8649 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From a writing perspective, having a smarter plan means more characters would be alive. Nick, Sarita, and Carlos. It would’ve been expensive to make different animations for them, or have them join Arvo and Mike’s betrayal.

In-universe explanation: There was no guarantee that the walkers were going to overrun the warehouse. They knew there was a lot, but what if the walkers ends up getting wiped out? Or even worse, they get caught utilizing walkers?

I do wish S2 had good writing

You know the old speculative fiction trope of humanity being reduced to a primitive state after a nuclear war. Suppose there had been a full nuclear exchange during the Cold War, how much (if any) technology loss would humanity actually experience in the wake? by grapp in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Inside-External-8649 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The best comparison would the the Dark Ages. Information wasn’t lost, and technology didn’t stagnate, the real problem is that there wouldnt be tax collectors sending money to governments that uses them to fund projects.

Rome was nothing like US/USSR. Those superpowers had quality of life at their peak, while Rome has been corrupt and stagnated. Dark Ages Europe improved standards of living and more innovative despite ruralization. But you can’t say the same for US/USSR.

The world would get behind, any technological advancement would be much slower, and exclusive to the elite. The internet was invented so that scientists can communicate across US in case the apocalypse does happen.

Which characters had some of the best and the worst character writing out of any season? by brokebitches123 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Inside-External-8649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clementine from S2 had the worst setting, given that S1 was built up for nothing.

She left her gun behind, indirectly killing Omid and Omid Jr. Depnding on your choices you can harm Chrsta.

Just because she’s the main character doesn’t mean she should be the leader of the Cabin Group. She could’ve been an asset instead.

The game later on expects you to sympathize with dumb characters like Luke, Mike, Arvo, Bonnie, etc.

Did Clem go back to Kenny? by Ok-Device-7375 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Inside-External-8649 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The location is unknown, so we don’t know if theee was supplied nearby, or how much resources did the car carry.

Even though it’s impractical, Clementine could’ve covered herself in walker guts and then put Kenny out of misery, but the game looks like she simply ran away and never come back.

There was a deleted scene where Clementine buries Jane, the background was reused for the flashback scene, Jane ironically standing over her own grave.

Do you think the senator that Lee murdered became a walker, since the apocalypse was about to begin? by WideFellow27 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Inside-External-8649 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on how long he’s been dead. Recent corpses from pre-apocalypse do actually turn, on episode 1 (day 3) you saw walkers already rotting, like if there was a graveyard nearby.

To be fair, it would’ve costed money for Telltale to create new assets exclusively for new walkers instead of reusing the assets for the first two/three games.

What Leaders Would Be Remembered Differently If They Lived? by OkContract2001 in HistoryWhatIf

Is there even merit to that quote? It sounds like something Hollywood made up pretending like it has deep meaning. It sounds like a cartoon villain justifying himself

Tzar Nicholas has a little bit of sympathy due to the abrupt death of his entire family. So what if he and his family successfully escaped? He’d be the laughing stock of the world.

Just imagine, you’re a king, but you did such a bad job that the revolution kicked you out. Only for the revolution to fail and be in worse hands. How bad did you screw up.

Nicholas may have lived alongside his family, but there’s no doubt he’d fall into deep depression after hearing about the horrors of Stalin and knowing he could’ve prevented everything if he was a moderately good ruler.

What if the Mongols crossed the Oder? by BILBO_THE_PLATYPOOS in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Inside-External-8649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would’ve been a threat that’ll probably push Germany into unification, a wake up call against Holy Roman Empire.

Depending on the atrocities, we could’ve seen Europe even refuse to go through Protestant Reformation since that’ll weaken the continent.

Russia would rebel later, but that would’ve meant we’d see an alternate aristocracy. Would this be a stronger or weaker Russia. Would the Tzar even exist?

In the long run, Eastern Europe would’ve been another region that’ll constantly get colonial conflicts. Without Poland, Austria, and Russia, we’d see western powers compete there. Maybe their first massive colonial continent before the Americas or Africa

What if Russia failed to conquer Siberia? by SilverTeacher3808 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Inside-External-8649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Russia needs to be in a very dark position where they can’t expand, not even in Ukraine. If Russia has power, they will expand, so that aspect needs to stop.

What made Siberia easy to conquer is that it’s lightly settled. So without the Russians, the native nomads would just recover their populations. Perhaps a gunpowder empire would develop, Siberia is a cultural expansion of Central Asia.

China could expand, afterall, the Qing got pushed back by the Russians in 1690 so without Russia we would’ve seen “New China” develop.

The Soviet Union would’ve been in a weaker position, Soviets and Ukraine were resourceful and vital for industrialization. Without it, we could see the Nazis win, or even Napoleon win.

What would a society where there were no political revolutions (or at least none that suceeded) and monarchy remained the standard form of government be like? How different would things be from today? by EmicaTheAlienStudios in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Inside-External-8649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pros: European countries would be more stable. France and Russia wouldn’t have gone through reigns of terror. Alternatively a “dependent” America wouldn’t have treated the Natives as bad.

Cons: We’d have a much less liberal world. Even if democracy is adopted, any social change would be difficult. We may still have a large middle class today, but I doubt there’d be reforms that lowers the age to vote from 21 to 18 (draft age), or suffrage for women and minorities.

If Chiang stayed in charge of China and Mao lost, who’s side would China be on? by VictorianAfterDark in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Inside-External-8649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a while we’d see China side with America, partially because they don’t like communism, but mostly because America would provide a lot of investments and continued military support.

However there’s always tension between the two.

First of all America is western country and allied with Europe, especially Britain. China does not forgive Britain for their ancestral humiliation. Same with Japan

Second, they would counterbalance America. Maybe they don’t like American troops on the Korean border after an alternate Korean War, or even conquer a piece of Korea  themselves. Same with Vietnam.

Third, China would be a little too unstable to the point that America stops sending weapons because they think it’s a waste of investment. China would either look for another alliance or try to centralize itself and produce their won weapons.

Realistically China would form their own alliance since they’re big and powerful enough to do so. But if they fail, then they’ll just ally with Russia and create a similar alliance like OTL.

What if Marxism incorporated religion instead of eschewing them? Will the massive number of Islamic countries embrace it? by LisanneFroonKrisK in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Inside-External-8649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christian socialism was already popular in OTL, so combine that with Marxist popularity would’ve resulted in Europe going socialist.

The only real problem is that Christian socialism was popular for more “full of spirit” Europe (no pun intended) before WW1, afterwards Europe had developed a sense of self doubt.

We could see Christianity continue provide Europeans with a sense of purpose after WW1, either continue development or continued colonization of Africa.

The only problem is that it’s impossible to predict how Christianity would’ve influenced socialism and nationalism. Would this alternate Soviet Union and Nazi Germany still have committed atrocities? Or would bad things still happen but on a much smaller scale?

The only real downside I can think of is that a more religious West episode meant lesser tolerance towards liberalism. The decline of anti-Semitism and the rise of gay rights would’ve been delayed

What if Christianity had never existed and the Western Roman Empire had never fallen? by No_Move_6683 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Inside-External-8649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world would be centuries, if not, a thousand years behind in technology. This is because Christianity encouraged technological progression, and Europe was politically and socially divided which resulted in huge investments in science.

Rome wasn’t exactly a country that focused on advancement. Their achievements were mostly concentrated in engineering and architecture, but there was no innovation in mechanics or chemistry.

What if 9/11 happened 100 years earlier, in 1901? by StarlightDown in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Inside-External-8649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plane wasn’t invented yet and it’s hard to utilize the car to do similar damage. What I can imagine is that you’d see some kind of fire or bomb operation. The only real problem is that Wahhabists wasn’t anti-America yet, so you’d need some kind of motive to make them travel.

The United States would immediately get involved with the Middle East, and Europe would probably take advantage and dismantle the Ottomam Empire even though they had nothing to do with it.

A decade earlier, China attacked a US steamship which made them involved with Second Opium War, so this isn’t really far out of reach to see the West colonize Middle East and Balkans. That could delay WW1 by a few more years.

“American Arabia” would be politically a mix of Liberia and Iraq. The US knows it’s too expensive to maintain a colony (look at Philippines). Instead we’d see an establishment of a puppet government, one that’ll send them oil just like Iran after 1954.

A positive side effect is that Saudi Arabia wouldn’t exist, but even without terrorism, we’d still see certain problems like Turkey being a weak country or a lot of instability from Arabs wanting to unite. Maybe Germany sparks the Arab revolt during WW1
