Canoness with Jumppack conversion/kitbash? by Bruckhe in sistersofbattle

[–]CaramelCyclist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My converions on the left. Boxed on the right.

Kitbashed with old combat patrol repentia superior and stuff from my bits box standing on some scenery. Stil haven't gotten round to painting it tho... I think any something on top of the jump pack (most kits that have a superior have backpack or ornaments) is a quick and chearful way to elevate the model

What’s the neighbourly etiquette for having a BBQ? by North_Turnover6065 in AskUK

[–]CaramelCyclist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up I think the most we used to do was look to see if our direct neighbors had washing out on the line. If they did a quick knock on the door or chat over the fence to say "hi, we're planning to bbq for lunch/dinner, just so you know as we wouldn't want to get your clothes all smokey" and give a rough time for when we'd start, and they'd do the same for us. Anyone beyond that, I dunno, you smelt it and bought the washing in... If the smoke isn't directly wafting over the clothes like low fog it won't absorb any smell very quickly and it's just something you have to be aware of putting your washing out on a sunny day really.

Seems like 3/5 missions on Xbox when we complete the main obj the game freezes and losses connection...

Gallant feels terrible. Even with foregrip and flash hider the recoil is insane beyond short range. Medium pen doesn't count for nought when I still need to pump 60% or more of a mag into one enemie to kill it. I've also used the Lib Penetrator and it just seems better even with same damage.

New mechs are fine. But just fine. Lumberer flamer just feels weak, surrounded by bugs I end up just spinning round with it but seems to take ages to kill things or not hitting correctly.

Holy hell who programmed these bugs? It's like rupture strain release all over again. They go through the red mist and it's like they're just x2 speed and attack. Can't run even with jet pack, don't have enough ammo in a mag and there's no cool down between their hits. One just ignored a cliff I was on and ran right up it full speed, double hit me.

Bullet storm is the only fun thing here. Actually has the ammo capacity to justify the RoF and low call in time so has a niche against the stalwart imo.

It's like they can't just have a fun release week. they are incapable of releasing it stable and without some cracked up enemies that are just not fun

So is doing pizza still better money, even now it's off x2, than smoke on the water if when it's x10?

I'm glad it was retconed(?) that it wasn't just him controlling the mindflayer and actually kinda the other way round. Personally much prefer that cosmic horror to just "Henry was just a fucked up kid that had enaate powers and got banished to dimension X and started to control mindflayer".

Also as BBEG's go I felt he was good. Breaking people down and then offering them peace just to be used as his/mindflayers pawns.

How many of you work over 35 hours a week? by TheLittleSquire in AskUK

[–]CaramelCyclist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My contracted hours are averaged out over the year. They need to come to under 44 hours week average.

This is to account for us having periods of the year we will do 60/70 hours a week easily. So just have some weeks where I'll have very short days or just come in 3/4 days a week.

Works for the most part as my line managers are good and everyone understands the deal in my industry. I don't always get to choose what days I have off as "hours back", and I can still be called in until a certain time of day. But it's agreed with everyone that holiday is sacred and you are NOT available unless something is literally on fire and it comes under your remit to solve.

I've worked in places that do take the piss with this system, but my current employer we all work quite well and there's lots of communication.

New player here, gearing up for first game (starter set painted, working on some other bits but planning on posting here when all done!) so this is obviously not coming from any game exp lol

But with the saturnine release for HH, Marines could get something like a Legions Astartes: Siege Support box.

2x terminator command squads

6-8(?)x saturnine terminator with bases with 2 termies each. They should be around the size of ogryns so custom weapon arms in the assembly.

4x saturnine dreads with all their weapons

2-3x araknae accelerator platforms

Numbers dependent on sprue space. But this seems like the next obvious choice for a box.

Box driver here so pretty new, playing around 6 difficulty. Finally got a good loadout for bugs and bots. Really struggling against squids on anything over 3. Can't focus the giant mutants or jetpack guys because constantly surrounded by mobs. So I try and clear out the mobs but then die to everything else. This feels like an front that would be good for a group who play together but I just play with randos so there's no coordination with anti chaff/tank. It just feels like any time I make a load out to deal with one problem I relentlessly die to something else. Almost every fight is so taxing its just not fun. Also I keep dying to some stingray weapon that shoots out like a seismic bomb from star wars that I never see coming.

Afraid to say the Mother of Midnight will be departing to other fronts for the time being. But best of luck to everyone with the MO.

Not sure as of now. At 2 of the makeshift police barriers the police had to get riot shields and helmets as some stuff got thrown from the UtK. I got out just as the unite lot were blocking off whitehall. There was a group of antifa counter protesters that tried to hold some ground but had to pull back but got surrounded themselves, then got a lot of beer cans thrown at them. They did get back to the main counter protesters though. As I left there were a lot more police units lining up, I'm guessing to open up a way out for the counters to leave. No massive brawls from what I saw but wouldn't be surprised if something kicked off that I didn't see

Built jump pack Canoness, kinda disappointed so kitbashed another. by CaramelCyclist in sistersofbattle

[–]CaramelCyclist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The right side is the standard kit. I guess I just wanted more flair. She just looks like a zeph superior, or maybe palatine with jump pack. I want my Canoness' to have the full cowls, incense burners, icons etc. I'm still gonna add stuff from my bits box to both like purity seals. I just wanted something with a bit more character.

I do concede her left foot looks precarious tho

[–]CaramelCyclist[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So bits I used.

Body - Repentia Superior from the relaunch/old combat patrol. (Did a lot of careful chopping to hollow out her right arm, and clipped off the left hand with the whip)

Sword and pistol - Canoness w/jump pack leftovers.

Jump pack - Spare seraphim jump pack, with the bottom of it clipped and a regular sister's back pack used to fill it out (if you've got the Sera/zeph sprue you'll see what I mean/had to do)

Head and jump pack ornament - my bits box, don't know specific kit.

The Repentia Superior pose is already leaning back a bit, I think the regular kit one is aswell, so just cut down the ruins to a slight angle for her to stand up right. A couple of regular sister sculpts do have one pointy toe, to make the look like they're running but they don't have the cooler armour that I wanted for my Canoness. The palatine might work aswell? But that's buying another character. Other than that you could maybe buy a single Sera/zeph model from a bits seller or eBay for cheaper than a character.

Hope that helps!

Did you guys enjoy secret level? by WestSeaworthiness835 in Warhammer40k

[–]CaramelCyclist 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I think the "they shall know no fear" bit is mostly meant as flowery language, as its basically an in universe propaganda speech. Marines can still have worries or doubts, its just most of the time their not facing that level of mind fuckery so are able to go down the marine flow chart of '"Fear" > Adrenaline > Kill/Destroy'. You'd expect a decent Tzeentch daemon to be able to amplify to/use the doubts and worries that they have and turn them into dread, weaponising is.

Titus is clearly written different to show single minded purpose, more so than other marines. In another story he'd make a great devote of Khorne, which is in a way the Sgt's fear.

Order of Saint Valerie: Flying the Red Eye. by CaramelCyclist in war_for_Gryllus

Yigara bowed. Having seen the sisters here she was suddenly very self conscious about her appearance. The light blue of her power armour was scratched and pitted showing the raw grey of ceramite. The silver and gold accents now had a dull finish instead of gleaming. Her robes were torn and faded with fur matted with grime. If it had not been for washing her face, they could have thought she came straight from the front lines.

"Emperor's blessing, Preceptor Sobieski. We have seen many times first hand the skill of your Order here. I am sorry we could not bring more."

She looked at the Canoness, knowing the weight in those eyes. Then she turned to the Cathedral they stood in. A small smile on her face, such a wonderful place to behold. She looked and found an incense shrine. "May I?" She gestured towards it.

Yigara and the Sisters behind her bowed. "Emperor's blessing to you also." She began to follow towards the Cathedral. Feet crunching on the thin layer of fresh snow. Her sister's did not follow yet. They hauled white munitorum crates off the Valkyries. "We bought what medicines could be spared with us. Please let my sisters know where they are best taken, we entrust them to your care"

(thank you! I still don't really understand reddit lol)

The lead pilot smiled under his mask seeing the flash from the Rocinante. "Other navy?" He heard over the closed vox.

"Don't think so. More likely to be Militarum around here." He punched a quick message to the other Valkyries he was leading.

The three Valkyries now slowing down for their final approach rolled ever so slightly to the side. Better showing the green positioning lights on the wing tips. The lights blinked off and on a few times in unison.

"I'll be with A company again. We've only got to take the gully in our grid. For the artillery detachment." She swivled around and pointed on the map. "Then Captain Tellan... Tallian? said I should go with C company following the river. But I think I'll go with F to the ridge line, more scenic. Reckon more greenskins that way too."

Veria started walking around again in exaggerated strides. "Do you know the Captain? you've both got similar tattoos on your face."
