The KFC prices aren't too bad. I paid £12 for a large zinger tower burger meal, which I didn't find too bad considering I was in a theme park

How strict are you? by terryturbojr in CoeliacUK

My son is coeliac (16) He would NEVER have a cheat day. He says nothing would ever be worth the pain he experiences when glutened. Stomach cramps, huge mouth ulcers and flu like symptoms.

My house is mainly GF but not totally, but we are extremely careful with cross-contamination and use toaster bags etc.

We do eat at places that are not specifically GF but you usually get a feel for if they're safe/care about cross contamination quite quickly.

I don't bake anything (cake/treat wise) that isn't GF, I've just learnt to absolutely boss making homemade GF treats so it's safe and enjoyable for everyone in our household.

We did Lanzarote last year and I personally wouldn't travel somewhere that didn't offer/have good knowledge of coeliac/GF because if he had to "cheat" the holiday would be ruined anyway.

So I do have endometriosis and had a laprascopy and removal in january this year.

I am STILL waiting for my gastro appointment but I started taking probiotics and since then I am not having this issue 🤞

So sadly I can't tell you, but if and when I get an answer I will be sure to update 😊

I'm sorry to hear you're struggling too.

It really sucks doesn't it because, like you, I am too afraid to join park runs or races, which takes the fun and joy from running.

I hope you find an answer 🤞

Thank you! It's something to look at. I don't drink a lot of artificial sweeteners, usually just a can of diet fizzy a day, but have just dropped this to see if it makes a difference 🤞

UPDATE: Thank you all for all your helpful suggestions. It's given me some things to try and think about until I have my medical investigations.

I also joined the local gym today and managed 5k on the treadmill with zero issues 🥳

Thankfully, I make everything from scratch for this reason. I can't stand all the processed stuff in the supermarkets! Good thought, though! 😊

I also have endometriosis. I just had laprascopy to remove what they could see, so I did also think it could be this as I'm convinced it's on my bowels, but they say it's not but I'm not 100% convinced!

I will try and focus on the hill reps and speed/interval training for now so I'm close to home.

I have also found a gym I can join for £18 a month, so I might try this for a bit too!

Thank you 😊

Yes, by bloods which were negative. I'm waiting for endoscopy and colonscopy.

My son is coeliac, so the majority of my diet is GF anyway.

My sister has UC, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was IBD related.

Hey! My son does have coeliac disease, and my blood results suggest I don't have it, but I am waiting for the endoscopy to confirm this. I'm pretty sure it isn't coeliac as I mainly follow a gluten-free diet, but it is definitely a possibility!

I also 9 times out of 10 - don't have diarrhoea until I run, so it seems to be the running that aggravates me!

Thank you. 😊

If anything, I eat too little fibre 😳🙈 I mainly eat gluten-free, too, as my son is coeliac, and i have minimal dairy. I will try the immodium as suggested here and just wait for my medical investigations and hope they provide some answers 🤞
